the system i had was with a round aluminium muffler, same as i had on my 888 full system that worked very well.
http://www.bikeboy.org/pics/888_3.jpg
so i can't see it being a muffler issue. the pipe is just too big.
what brad is saying is that to get more power out of it, you should restrict it a little, maybe stuff a sock into the split to provide some back pressure.

So, I should create a little resistance in the pipes before exhaust gases reach the muffler?

i was being a bit sarcastic
but that is the issue that brad is talking about
the wider pipe provides far more volume (i.e. (pi × 43^2 × h) minus (pi × 40^2 × h).. just 100mm of pipe would give over 19,000 cubic mm more volume.
restricting the flow makes up for this somewhat because the constriction acts to offset the diameter somewhat.
maybe a restrictor donut weld into the 2:1?

Yeah, I got that!!
But I thought there might be some truth behind the thought
I should reiterate I am not doing this conversion for performance ...I just like the look.
But while I am in there I would like to make it as efficient possible.....and not crazy loud!!

i don't agree that a restriction would act like a smaller pipe, nor do i agree that they need back pressure. they just need to be appropriately sized.

Brad, what I think you're trying to say is smaller pipe means more velocity on the exhaust. larger pipe means less velocity. a motor like the 750 doesn't pump enough exhaust to fully use the larger pipe and keep the velocity of the gas up enough to keep it flowing smoothly, possibly resulting in exhaust reversion issues.
two thoughts i have on a solution
making the crossover happen sooner. a guy i met explained to me how he would put shoe polish on pipes and where it stopped burning off, that's the cut point for drag pipes or crossover point. I think on a larger diameter exhaust on a smaller capacity bike that point is going to be closer to the head.
another though I have is use of the torque cones like on the short pipe harleys as a solution to this problem. This would speed of the initial exhaust of the exhaust from the head and stop any reversion issues. this is what I want to try if I stick with my 2 into 2 exhaust setup.

Wow, the header system is in Honolulu already!!
Slated for delivery on Monday.
It was sent UPS....using UPS "Quantum View" able to follow every leg.
I assumed it would be at least a 2 week wait.
Brad & all others knowledgeable about exhaust & mufflers scenario's!!?
What would your guess be about db, sound quality & performance using this 2-1 system with one of these mufflers?

they don't act exactly like a smaller pipe, but they do help. you can see the difference when you put "db eaters" into open pipes. Same effect -- lower diameter = increase restriction by lowering volume. decrease diameter of output = reduce flow.

Got the system today, couldn't believe how fast from the Netherlands to Honolulu, 5 days!!
Well, I don't know if its genuine "DUCATI Performance" or not, but I am very impressed with weld quality & fit at all the connections.
I will be very proud to sport this system...just hope its not to loud; though I don't plan to use the chrome can that came with the system.
I do plan to show the pipes to my mechanic and get his "pro" opinion of the authenticity of the system. He is very knowledgeable on about all things DUCATI.
I will let you know

Unless its made in someone's garage, it will have some kind of homologation (or statement that it is NOT homologated) and the manufacturer's name or logo. The DP exhausts made by Termignoni have a stamp of "Terry" the termi rider.

Thanks for the pics Superjeduc!
I am glad to see someone else has done this system. They all look good but the last one with the Akrapovic is my FAV
I do plan to keep my current stock, passenger pegs so I won't get the can quite as vertical as I would like.
Did you notice power increase or decrease?
Also any advice before putting the system on?
Lastly is this 2-1 much louder ....I currently run stock cans cut down to 11'' and partially cored?
Thanks,
Frederick

Well finally got the 2 into 1 system installed along with new sprockets & chain...shaved down seat and 20mm rear height spacers installed.
The bike looks, rides & (sounds a lot different). Its more quiet actually.
The "rear height" increase didn't change the ride as much as I was afraid it might, thankfully.... it is a little quicker steering.
I sure like the look with ass kicked up
The 2-1 system seems now that the power is more towards the top 5000 rpm-7500 rpm, not as much low end torque as before.
But, some of that could be my gearing, it is 1 tooth taller now.
I have installed a Two Brothers M2 can......its in a temporary position. Looking for a much shorter mid pipe.
This has been a challenge ...because I want to keep my stock rear sets (my dates love my Monster
)!!!
Got some pics if someone can post
