Yep... tools were involved and so was bad language. Short version is that KTM made some dumb decisions about with harness plugs. They used ones on an 'off road' bike that all to readily allow in water.

mercifully an easy fix once figured out. But a fix that shouldn't have had to happen.

On the fun side - we almost had a brand new 1199 all of our own after the owner left the key in the ignition and went into the starbucks @ River and Falls

Can you say "Track Bike"?

Pondering some Dunlop 606s and some different gearing for some shenanigans one the weather cools. Mmmm knobblies.

Those pirellis are nice enough on pavement and packed stuff... but man anything sandy or gravel  and they nervous as anything... In hind sight I wish I'd taken a photo of the pretty big slalom fishtail I got going up in NY on an uphill section of sandy road. Being too dumb to panic hand the tail going from side to side spraying crap while I was going "oh dear, this ain't good"

Next time we'll have to get some video. Though in some weird inverse way, having a camera running will prevent anything odd happening like the *mighty* KTM shitting the bed due to a few drops of water in the wrong spot.

Just don't get them wet, or feed them after midnight, or expose to sunlight...

You saw this bit right

" Your bike must be fully street-licensed, with a hard tag or a documented temporary tag. You must show current and matching registration for your bike, as well as a valid drivers license and current AMA membership card. Your bike must be equipped with a USFS-approved spark arrestor and pass the AMA sound test."

Yeah, I've done my homework, I can get get AMA card on site and I'll put the original BMW muffler back on. Most of these regulations are aimed at people with their racing dirt bikes. The organizers want to focus on the ride (vs race) part of the event.
