Uh-oh ... what's going on here?

Welcome aboard Buzz. Congrats on the new bike.

I won't comment on the sledging ... but I can assure you, you will come in for some good natured 'encouragement' to change your 'no-mods' stance.

Hope to see you out on the road sometime (Sydney resident it would seem).

Hey All .

Just joined here a week or so back , bought my first Ducati today .
I got a 2000 model 900ie monster it has 27,000kms on it and mostly been sitting at rest for a few years .
It's got a Staintune full exhaust and I just chucked the db killers in , I'm a bit concerned it will be too loud for rwc even with the db killers in .
Anyone got these pipes got any idea how loud they really are ?   My ear for twins is pretty crappy i think but they sound loud as f..uk to me ?

It also has a K+N airfliter and pretty much stock other wise I think .
So far for roady I've found it needs a front tyre , any suggestions on which one to get put on ?
I'm a mechanic by trade and plan on doing everything myself that it needs or I want to change on it , for example the micky mouse mirrors have to go ASAP  , I'd like to put a single muffler exhaust on it later on , don't know what but I like the look of single pipes .

Anyway , i've crapped on enuff .

cheers ,
Jason.

Welcome Jaso

Check the Tyre thread might help you select a Tyre http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=45162.0

And leave the twin pipes less the DB killers ,you will get use to it. It's a Ducati thing Cheesy Wink

Oh and were are you located Huh?

Welcome  Jason,

Couldn't tell you exactly what db rating the pipes might have but I haven't heard of anyone anywhere having their pipes checked for a road worthy.

Tyres is a big can of worms. It will always depend on your riding style and what you do with your bike. Commuting, pure enjoyment, or a combination of both.

So welcome along, hope you enjoy it here.

Welcome Jaso.

Well you have plenty of good riding round your area.

As to tyres - we all have our preferences.  We even have more than one thread on the subject (maybe do a search) but I think is the most current one http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=45162.30.

The Grampians (soon to be re-opened) and the western end of the GOR are my playgrounds but I have worn out tyres up and down the eastern part of the country in the  past 18 months.

I hear you, it's always low-digits in the AM here on the Mornington Peninsula but warms up to 12-13C (brr!) so that cancels any work commuting for me even if the day is nicer. The weekends if dry are ok in not infrequent of late. I haven't invested in wet/cold weather gear because I sit proudly in the camp of fair-weather riders. Dolph

Hello one and all,

New to the world of Monsters, recently picked up an 01 S4. Titanium Termis, Power Commander, K & N Filter, and a bit of bling to round it off. I am in the Newcastle area, so if there are any others local to the area that want to go for a ride sometime let me know.

Cheers to all and hope to make some friends out of what looks like a great community. Grin

Welcome Buddy,

Excellent to have another Monster rider along.
Looks like we will be up in The Hunter to visit Claudio at The Blue Tongue Brewery the first Saturday in August.

Cheers and I'm sure you'll enjoy the new bike and community here.
