Too much.
I'd check out Cheshire if I were you. I hear lots of good things about their work and Deric was very helpful and informative when I talked to him about getting some work done.
I did my own 12K. It wasn't cheap - had to buy tools - and it took me forever becuase I'm not mechanically inclined. It hasn't blown up yet so I think I did OK.

Belt change, valve check/adjust - that's the "fun" part, ummm . . . that's all I remember.

12k involves all lube and filter actions (change crankcase oil, fork oil, chassis lube, air filter, fuel filter), replace cam belts, spark plugs and possibly the chain if it's a stretched-out grandmother. I think a complete 12k would be pretty in-depth if it were professional. Dunno if it's necessary to tear the bike down, but personally I'd consider a change of brake and clutch fluid, a good look at brake pads and rotors, check play in the steer head and axles, check valve lash, battery electrolyte, frame/chassis for any cracks, and make sure all nuts and bolts are still on the bike and tight. My theory is, for the cost of a service bill, even if you have to buy tools, anything is worth learning how to do on your own if you ever have to do it more than once. There's a lot of merit in letting an experienced third party do the work if they were to catch a potential safety issue, or if something you check actually does need to be replaced/repaired, but that can go both ways depending on their enthusiasm or carelessness. The owner is probably the most inclined to care the most. I know I am.

I just had an 18K service done by
Cheshire Motorsports
.
The total was $758.56, but I had the timing belts changed, and a set of new tires installed/ballanced ($80).
The price for parts was the same as MotoCorsa, and labor was cheaper. He did an excellent job on the service, he even fixd things I didn't tell him about.
When I had my 12K done at MotoCorsa, it was around $1200, but I had them install a 520 chain and new sprockets.
At both places I've had great service, and I wouldn't hesitate to recomend either one.

A lot of the service is premature you can prolly push it a few thousand.
I'd call the shop and find out how much to save as service price has changed.
But I guess from 500 to 1000 dollars.
Do the valve job if you are at red line a lot.
12 or 18k is a good time to have them "set" after that they usually stay pretty good.
Change the belts.
Check your chain and sprockets.
Change Air,Oil,Fuel filters.
Check/replace your bearings, headset, wheels.
Change Oil and hydraulic fluid.
Change park plugs.
Synchronize throttle bodies.
I blew my clutch out at ~15k but that is me
Most of it you can do yourself... and the shop is a good place to go if you don't feel comfortable doing it (or have time).

Yeah, I have been having trouble with my PARK plugs too. The bike doesn't seem to want to go into park; no matter what I do to it I can only find 1-6 and neutral.

I just had Julie's Ninja 250 tuned up, valves, carbs, oil with filter, and all adjusted for like $250 at SDS Performance in Lake Oswego... close to Bridgeport.... they did a really good job on it. Rides like a... uh... 250 now.... Still has no real balls... but is fun to ride.
We getting a "Where should I get my bike serviced?" locked thread for stuff like this??
They also setup race bikes, for all you racing peeps.

Hey guys.... I forgot... I have a coupon for SDS.... it's for 30% off labor.... pretty good deal. But it is only good till Sept 1st. Let me know if any of you want it. I think it brings their labor from $85 to like $60.
