My experience is just with the Neenja.... seems fine to me... valves, carbs, and full tune up.... in the $250 range... but its a tiny lil bike too. Call em up and see if they have an idea on cost... plus it is pretty close to you. (Who knows if they do Ducs?) Also... they just opened... they used to be a Bend area shop I think. I think Tyson from the Cascade Track Time owns or runs the joint.

My 12k service will be toward the end of this riding season (I'm at about 10500 right now). I intend on having the service done in my own garage.
I'll be finding the least expensive source for high-quality or OEM parts.
Thanks for the list Bendy... I'll probably use that as a basis for my own 12k checklist. Of course, it will all be meticulously logged in my bike's maintenance/ownership logbook.
I was figuring on:
--crankcase oil & filter
--timing belts
--valve check (adjust as needed)
--spark plugs
--clean air filter (it's a K&N)
--flush all clutch and brake fluid (even though it's all still clear & filled)
--inspect brake pads
--disassemble, inspect, and clean clutch pack (it's been getting a bit grabby in the last 1000 miles or so)
--check chain tension, clean & lube
Hadn't thought about checking the steering head bearings as part of the 12k. Actually, I was just looking at the steering stem the other day and wondering how often the bearings need checked for play. It would also be a wise idea to check the wheel bearings, though I figure I'll check those when I pull the wheels off to have tires mounted/balanced. I bought a rear back in Spring... waited to burn up the rest of the Pilot Race... then got close enough to summer I figured I'd wait for Cycle Gear to run a 25% off coupon and buy a front to have swapped at the same time... coupon never arrived (not sure if it will, this is quite a bit later than when they mailed it out last year). Anyway, I'll pick up a front at some point here and have both tires swapped. May be after the season, because the rear ain't gone yet.

Do you still have spark, Chuck? Pull out a plug and put the wire back on, then crank it and watch the plug. It can't be too complicated of an issue.

I've got my bike in to Cheshire right now for the 12k, along with tire mounts and a complaint about REALLY hard starting when cold. Eagerly awaiting the results. Less eagerly awaiting the cost.

No spark that I just saw. Checked both plugs.
What you got? Something quick Billy and I can check before we go?

I wager she's already at Cheshire, but that should isolate it to an ignition problem. She's in good hands now. I'm not too knowledgeable on the fool injection setup of the newer Monsters without looking, unfortunately. I'd have started with relays, voltage regulator, coils, et cetera, if applicable.

All I heard was "It's time for a drink!"
Thanks again Billy!
And for those curious. I cleaned the plugs, tried to see if there was spark and got nothing. Being the obstinate person I am I tried starting her again before Billy got there hoping I could ride up and he'd just bring me back . . . nothing.
Drop her off. Shawn asks if the starter turns over and I say, yah. It turns over great. With a disbelieving look in his eye he turns the key, thumbs the starter and . . . VROOOOMMMMM!!!!
"See." I said "The starter turns over fine."
It was funny and oh so aggravating at the same time.
Billy and I both expected it though. We discussed how those intermittent issues DO NOT occur when the "fix it" person is around on the way there.
Thanks for stopping by Plan B for a visit Vic. Always good to see you.

I had a starting problem last year. I still have the kick stand down = no start thing from the factory. I start it and warm it up a bit. Go get my gear on and no start. After about 3 days of this, I load it in the truck to Motocorsa, thats a 2 hour drive. Get there and still no start, great, with the on again off again who knew what would happen.
Well after about 30 minutes it's figured out. You see, I have a full belly pan, so you can't see the bottom of the engine. Turns out, the bolt holding the wire to the starter was loose, sometimes you got a connection, sometimes not.
Cheapest bill I ever got from Motocorsa.
