Wow, what a great looking modern cafe, although the Bonnie is perfectly fine the way it is as a retro standard

It's been awhile since I've like the looks of a bike this much. Clean, modern, elegant, with just a sprinkle of salty classic flair.

But I prefer my standard and its stock looks with just a few Triumph goodies and some aftermarket suspension.

Hard to even find a standard anymore, which is the reason I bought my T-100. It has a torquey, relaxed, "cruising" engine though and it weighs a ton, so trying to make it a cafe when it's a lead pipe isn't very cost-effective. It's built to a price and for a specific market. At the manufacturer's level, a 100 lb. diet would cost ~ $4,000+. To achieve that aftermarket I hate to think the $$$.

Same reason I got my '01 T-100!  I've longed for a 70's style standard (a CB450/550) but ended up getting the T-100.  It fools most untrained eyes into believing it's a restored classic. Smiley

P.S. I had recently sold the Bonnie for a small displacement commuter.  Sad

Interesting. I was after something like an R90/6 which does everthing, but without the points and carbs. Bonnie was just about "it". 450/550 not my style and they don't handle for sh*t.  Wink

Oddly, NO bike I've ever owned gets more looks and comments from both sexes, including some pretty exotic hardware. Must be non-threatening.

Great looking bike.  I miss my Bonnie...

Thanks!  Wink Not a great snap. It's Forest Green metallic, gold stripes and New England white. It's an 865 EFi too, so smoother and healthier than your '01 which a pal of mine also had with a ton of Triumph mods. This one might "look" stock but has a custom Sargent saddle, TORs, (Triumph "Off-Road" mufflers), Ikon shocks, Ricor fork valves, etc..., and lately some Sport Demons which are a big plus.

As you know, stock they are a buckboard. Just need a bit more preload on the forks soon. It's 95% there. The T-100 is for errands and mellower cruises. The 796 does strafing runs. Oddly it's more comfortable for me for long runs than the T-100, as long as I can keep "moving".  Wink

There's much I like about this bike but I love how the clutch and front brake cables are cleaned up.
