Suspension guru in the DC area?
«
on:
February 21, 2012, 01:18:09 PM »
Anyone know of a suspension guru in the DC area? I'd like to get my bike setup properly for my weight. I'm currently just riding on the stock settings.
I think Ducpond might have something, but anything closer to DC would be best.

I posed this question to a friend who always gets this done for all his street, dirt and racebikes, and here was his response:
"Not local. But it's not hard to yank the forks & shock off and send it out. I have always used WER for my dirt bikes and Traxxion for my race
bikes. They can turn it around quickly.
Or he can ride up to a race at Summit and have it done while he waits. If he brings it to a local shop they will probably just jack it up and
send it out anyway."

Well, I had the SD "tuned" at MRP, and was really impressed at what he did with it. Took about an hour, and cost $50. Jim, Lars and Ted have also used them, and have equally good reviews.

I got the 675 resprung in addition to having the knobs and dials twiddled. Kenny did a great job on the work and the setup is a phenomenal improvement.

Sounds like MRP is a great option. I suspect my friend was unaware of them since that's close enough that its easier than sending them out.

MRP does sound like just what I'm looking for. There's a lot of range of adjust on the Ohlins, but I just don't know enough about tuning to feel confident enough to start making changes. Would rather have an expert guide me through.
Thanks!

Duc Pond has done all the suspension mods and setup on the M900, ST3, S2R, very reasonable price, the racing knowledge that Donnie brings to the subject is hard to beat. The distance is about ~30 mles more than going to MRP. - Gene

That was going to be my nod. The owner/head tech specializes in suspension and was working with an AMA team during the 2011 season. They are in Chantilly, spitting distance from the Expo center.

Just bumping this up. The weather was great last weekend so I decided to ride up to DucPond and have them adjust the suspension. Absolutely amazing and so glad they did it. Suspension feels way better than the stock settings. More compliant for the ride. It actually feels like the suspension has some travel now. Very happy with Donnie's setup.

Hmm, I was there, decided to take the Paso out for a spin. Sorry we did not meet. - Gene
