I just read Codes newer book "Twist of the wrist II"... sounds like he wrote it with a little help from his argument with Toolio.  waytogo

It depends on which way you go. For us, it will take maybe 4-5 days.

It took me 4 days to cross.  I think my distance was a little shorter, straight across from NY to San Francisco.  I didn't really even need a map, it was all one road.  In retrospect I wish I had taken more time.

Starting early in the day always seems to make it easier, less time driving in the dark and more time to decompress at the end of each day.  Take it easy and hope you stay safe.  See you soon, riding season is just around the corner.

Meh, at least it isn't icy. (*knock on wood*)

So yeah, I still don't have my home desktop fully functional.  I finally have working hardware, but the old Windows XP install on my HDD won't boot all the way to Win-blows.  It'll start up into safe mode, but I can't get it to finish loading drivers or recover whatever Windows files went AWOL.  Problem: I can't just blow this one away and reinstall, because I have critical data I need to get off of there first.  THEN I can blow it away, reformat, and reinstall the OS.

So... I need another hard drive.

Figured out that I want a Western Digital Caviar Black, between 500GB and 1TB.  I'd rather go for the less expensive drives, for the sake of my budget, and the fact there's a threat of layoffs at work.  I'd rather not be any more overextended than I already am.  Anyway...

Fry's apparently doesn't carry the Black series WD drives (the Black series are faster drives with longer warranties).  ENU only has the 1TB Black Series, their 500GB drives are the basic units.  Plus, ENU is only open 'til 6pm, and I usually don't leave work until after that.  Best Buy only has the 1TB Black series as well, and they're spendy.  I refuse to patronize Newegg after I had four RMAs in three orders, and my brother had to RMA two power supplies in a row on one order.  Newegg used to be great; I don't know what kind of second-rate garbage they're peddling now, but their quality went in the toilet, so I'm taking my consumer dollars elsewhere.  Their screw-ups are the reason it's taken three months to finally get functioning hardware together.  And I'm not happy that I had to pay for shipping to the mfr. on two of those RMAs.  No more Newegg.  Heard good things about ZipZoomFly, but they're all out of the Black Series drives.

Anybody know of a computer store in the SW part of town other than Fry's that would carry internal hard drives for a reasonable price?
