I finally bought an HDTV. My old Toshiba CRT bit the dust in this last move. It's traveled a few too many miles, I suppose, and it no longer displays video (audio still works). I had bought that TV when I was on college, so it has moved back and forth across much of the country multiple times. Anyway, it was an excuse to go get a digital TV.
Picked up a Sony KDL-46Z5100. It's a 46" 1080p 240Hz LCD, uses the same display and video processor as the top-tier Sony XBR series, the Z5100's just don't have as many extraneous menu widgets (still has a bunch of web-enabled stuff like weather and a stock ticker, though). Menu widgets weren't worth $200 to me... the display and video processing are all I need. Oh, the XBR has better speakers... but who uses the TV speakers anyway? That's what the home theatre system is for.
So yeah, I'm pleased as punch. Tested the TV in-store using my own video source, and liked what I saw when compared to others. Can't wait to get it all hooked up at my place!

I have a 19" Sony CRT. It's fine for me but last night at the Regal theater I realized that they have something like 36" flat panels to display the popcorn prices. 4 of them actually. After that I felt like it might be time to start considering an upgrade.

Hey all... Been a while, eh?
Just stopping by to say 'hi'. Wedding went well, had a live band at the reception and G sang about 4 songs with the band. Honeymoon in Maui was great (Z didn't quite understand why we were going to Hawaii without him, so told him I'd explain it in a few years... heh), was tough coming back home. G was promoted to Platoon Leader at work and is doing very well. I'm so proud of her! I've made it to Instructor Intern with TeamOR (get paid now... woohoo!) and that's going very well. REALLY enjoy the job, seeing the proverbial lightbulb click on for the students. Very rewarding!
Well, that's about it. Hope everyone is riding safe, noticed a few crazies out there lately. Just yesterday on my way home, had a guy on a Harley (with passenger), pass both myself on my Duc and the truck and 25 ft horse-trailer he was pulling in front of me, on a BLIND corner (right turn) doing about 65mph. I was SO pissed. If he wants to kill himself, whatever... but to endanger me, his RIDER!, and the truck/horses in from of me is asinine!
laters,

Same but different, when tele-marketers call me, I set down the phone and walk away. That way they go through the 3 minute script before they realize no one is there. By hanging up on them, they call the next poor sap on the list that much sooner.
I like my evil to be subtle.
