I stopped by GP Suspension last Friday.  I was looking to get my stock fork springs from the RE measured to see what they are.  They were too small to fit in there test machine but they made a few measurements and ran the numbers through a spreadsheet to get me a close estimate.  And all for free!  Really nice folks there.

I was ready to ride in this morning... but my wife is not so comfortable with me riding when there's a significant chance of rain.  Especially on a bike that I've ridden for less than 500 miles (she knows her moto risks well... and I've only put around 400 miles on it thus far).

Speaking of mileage, this is starting to become a trend: my 900SS had gotten less than 1000 miles per year of riding prior to when I bought it... I proceeded to put something like 3500/year on it.  The Gran Canyon?  Less than 1500 mi/yr by prior owners (11 years old, 15,600 miles), and I've racked up nearly 400 miles in two weeks.  Motorcycles were meant to be ridden.  [moto]  My goal is to get the odometer to roll over (100,000 km = ~62,000 mi).

Stopped by MotoCorsa today and got my first up close look at the Diavel.  I had seen one or two ride by in the distance and they looked very front heavy.  It looks less so up close but there is a lot of plastic on the front making it look very monolithic.  It kinda looks like a cross between a Brahma bull and a maxi scooter.  All mass up front within a slick, smooth plastic wrapper.  I'm not a fan.

The new Monster 1100 is in the red room and that's nice.  Side exhaust instead of the underslung is kinda nice.

And when I said I was leaving work and didn't show up for an hour (stopped at MotoCorsa and Classic Scooter & Cycle on the way) my wife was starting to worry because of the rain.  It should only take me half an hour or so to get home.  I said we need to install a tracker so she can look me up on the net.  If the bike's moving, or not moving but at MC or CS&C I'm ok

I took a nice ride out Scapoose - Vernonia Road today. 

I came back on Hwy 30 and got pulled over in St Helens. The usual, he couldn't read my plate. Once he ran my licence and reg, and found no tickets, let me go with a warning to fix it. No need to fix the plate until I actually get a ticket.

I wasn't on the bike but was out in the gorge today with the family.  It was awesome!  We were just planning to go downtown but since the kid was napping and we didn't want to wake him up we kept driving until Hood River.  We walked around town, got some lunch, some ice cream, and my kid and a few others soaked themselves playing in a public fountain for and hour.  Not bad for a random drive.

Seeing the gorge I'm getting itchy for a Cougar run...
