On the monster

So it took almost a year, but I finally took it out and around the neighborhood on Sunday afternoon. It is (OBVIOUSLY) very different in many wasy from the GS500 but the smaller/lighter bike made gave me much more confidence. Also, have added frame slider and 14 tooth on the front so I"m getting more and more comfortable with it.
Since I'm planning on riding it to Indy in September, that gives me just about 3 months to figure out exactly how to handle it on a long haul.

YAY! Congrats on your maiden voyage with the Monster! Keep the progress reports coming
Frame sliders are a Godsend; I haven't even ridden my bike yet and they've saved it twice already

Kudos for you!!! It's scary at first, but you'll come to LOVE it!
We went for a 'spirited' ride last night. When I was leading, it felt like a horse hitting it's stride while galloping. The world is going by just fast enough, the senses are razor sharp, the adrenaline flows and it's just an awesome feeling!!
God I love my bike! Lookign forward to hearing you say the same thing. It'll happen!

Congrats! BTW, is the GS really lighter than the 620? By how much?

Not certain exactly, but it definitely feels lighter. Much easier for me to throw it around than the 620.

My 695 is definitely smaller/lighter than my GS was, but I had an '04 GS500F with full fairings.
