I have no idea why I'm posting this. I really should be in bed

A good ride
Probably about 300 miles, maybe someone hit 100mph (sure wasn't me!!), no crashes, no tickets, a few bike related fire drills, and one big bike-mod screw up. More about that in a minute
Today, just 5 Suspects rode. Here are 4 of them (Pat, Pak, GC, Cru) and all 5 bikes doing some personal gassing up at Gorilla.
From there we sat through 427 red lights leaving Brooklyn, sat on the Deagan, and finally reached twisties around 11 / 11:30.
Here's where things went a little south. GC discovered a crack in one of his exhaust cans. He thought it would be manageable. No dice. Between the deafening sound and the loss of power, he was out of his mind. A quick stop somewhere upstate brought out the Whiskey Tango repair to the can. Yes, it's Auto Trader and bandage tape
This doesn't work too well. About 6 minutes after leaving this site of this picture, everyone following GC sees the Auto Trader fly off the exhaust in flames. Apparently, there was too much pressure , heat, and perhaps a spark that melted the bandage tape and ignited the paper.
Round 2 experiment involves a quick trip to AutoZone for Aluminum Tape and banjo clamps. Someone is feeling really good about this!!
Guess what, at the first switchback on Ohayo Road, the exhaust blows through the tape. OOPSIE!!
Now we REALLY tape up the can, and hope for the best
Well, now it's about 7pm, and someone (me
) read the following post and packed accordingly...
Meeting at Gorilla. 9am sharp.
I need to be home at around 8pm at the absolute latest cause I've got the doggie to think about. That being the case, we're gonna stay "local" but I'm still gonna avoid the Magic Loop. Since the group is on the small side I won't be watching for the sweep rider, I'll just be doing my thing up front and I'll just assume that we're all still together. We all ride the same pace anyway so it shouldn't a problem.
So I don't have a clear visor...
I overhear a conversation that Ohayo and Peekamoose are out because it'll take us too far north, and we'll just head home.
5 minutes after getting back on the road, we turn off into twisties. Guess who's ready to come home and is NOT in the mood for more twisty shenanigans?...
yep, that's me! What was GC's thought process? "We are just sooooo close, how can we not?" So we wind our way to Ohayo. I do NOT keep up here and I think I MAY have topped 20mph at one point going up that road. What's the last thing you want to see on that road? How does a big ole UPS truck coming DOWN the mountain hit ya?
Anyway, all is forgiven. The ride home was uneventful, and we were all home before 11pm.
Oh yeah, I kept up "most" of the way!! Yay me!!
Just another typical ride with your friends, the Usual Suspects [moto]
