Well, that's the fun of it, isn't it.
Best thing is that it won't require modifying my bike.

So what do you think of that combination?
I'm thinking the top half of the seat could be hinged to allow for storage and then completely covered by upholstery. (see the alum/black Guzzi that Travman posted on page 127  http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=34105.1890red. ) Also, my local upholsterer can get an exterior grade naugahyde that's an exact match to my red. The possibilities!!!
The fairing would be painted w/stripe.

I spent some time this afternoon looking, measuring and planning. I think it's do-able. Sure wish I could see one of those fairings, though.

I think the biggest issue you're going to run into is that the frame is not flat underneath the seat, it slopes forward.

Not insurmountable, but far from bolt on.

Yeah, I was thinking about that this afternoon, too. Seems that if I were to use the bracket the tank sits on the seat would be pretty close to level. I'd have to build it up underneath but that shouldn't be a prob. The seat will be a lower priority than the fairing as I have several other ideas in mind, also.

It's a great look.

If you're doing the work yourself it's fine. If you're paying someone then the price of airtech is high.

+1 that airtech stuff is for track bikes.  I bought a GSXR fender for my Bandit from them and basically threw it in the trash.

Exactly.  Many have tried to get a cafe racer look out of a Monster and some have gotten pretty close, but IMO the true cafe racer look has the basic horizontal frame lines that make it work.  That is why the Moto Guzzi cafe racers work so well.  They Tonti frame is flat from front to back.

Yeah, I've come to the same conclusion. I've shaved the stock seat so it's exactly how I want it, anyhow.

I ordered that fairing kit today. I got a clear screen, though. I think the dark screen would make the bike look too tall. This isn't one of Airtech's race fairings so I'm sure it will hold up just fine.

They only keep the molds in stock so it takes about a month to get the product. In the meantime I'll be looking for pics of cool & sexy top fairing stays to copy.  I like the "hoop" look. Pics anyone?

The main stay will come off the existing headlight brackets and the lowers will run to the brake line clamps on the lower tree.
