When replacing a stock part, doing so with something lighter is a matter of principle.

i can agree with this...
but i would say that normally when weight is such a concern that you are looking for lighter MIRRORS... then maybe your bike is used for the type of riding that doesn't require mirrors (the track...)

I have a track bike, no mirrors. Race gear only.
When I can, I run light parts on the road bike.

The bar end mirror didn't fit.
I found two generic black plastic enduro type mirrors that were very cheap ($27 the pair). They clamp to the bar and and don't look too bad. They give an ok view, but not brilliant.
Weighed 140 gms combined and will keep the police happy.
