Hey everyone i have a question on whether it's a good idea to buy a PC on eBay. The post says that they'll give you a free map on whatever mods you have. My question is if I should believe whether or not they will actually do it? I have no access to a computer and no extra money to go to my local shop for them to charge me to map out my settings. Is is possible for someone Across the states to map out a PC for me to just simply set in my bike? I have a Ducati monster 620 ie and it has a full arrow exhaust system , sitting high on the rear sets . Same positioning , but they mounted the dual exhaust higher then usual for that year! I don't know if thats a problem either. I wouldnt think so though.
However it's a great deal for the PC ! 300 for a brand new dynojet with a free map! What do you guys suggest , buy it and take my chances ??

My experience, a PC won't do much for you unless you have a map specifically made for your bike's set-up.

I'm not trying to get more performance out of my bike, as dumb as it sounds. I just want my bike to stop running lean! And also it feels like the power is giving out if 4-6 gear. And sometimes it lags on throttle respone. I been researching and PC are suppose to fix these problems, am I correct? I highly doubt it's something serious . But I would like a heads up. Could that be happening because the bike needs a PC for the full arrow exhaust system?

If you just want the bike to run less lean there are other options out there, also, JCmotors.com has a sale for $280 for a PC3 USB for the 620. It's a "March sale so I guess it ends today. I'm sure you can find betters deals than $300 bucks, however. It does sound like you could have more problems than just running lean, though.

I should just go take it for a full inspection then. Cause I want it riding top notch to it's abilities ! I just thought I could get a PC and hope the problems fade. But maybe it might be something different .

That's the way to go, no point in messing with the FI until you know everything else is withen spec.

The preloaded map will get you in the right direction. There are generic maps out there for different setups. Full Arrow Exhaust being one of them...

The preloaded map has to be uploaded on a computer still right? I'm in the position of not having a local computer right now. If I take it to the dealer will they just map it with a generic map to get some quick $$$?

The preloaded map is just that: preloaded onto the PCIII. Just install the PCIII and be done with it. Now, that involves unplugging fuel injector wiring and replacing it woth the PCIII wiring and tapping into a couple wires besides the battery, but it's essentially "plug and play"...

Thanks NAKID!!! That's going to save me alot of time and money. I been trying to research into maps for PCIII. And now that I know I can just use the preloaded map I feel way more comfortable doing it myself and being "done with it" ! I just want to start riding ASAP! Thanks!
So I know I'm repeating myself, but I can just take it out the package and just plug it in and turn it on? That sounds way easier Then what I been hearing and reading

Well, yes and no. Depends on how comfortable you are with your bike. There is some pre planning that needs to go into it. How you plan to route the wirirng, where you plan on mounting the PC itself. All told, took me about 30-40 mins when I did my first one...

I'm pretty comfortable with my bike and knowing its surroundings. Right now I'm painting it so it's all in peices . The tank is completely off. I plan on putting on the PC before I mount the tank back on. And the wiring is nothing but unplugging and plugging in the new adapters that come with the PC correct? Or am I mistaken? Also the PC should mount perfectly ontop of my battery , is that also correct? I know you have to wipe both surfaces off with alcohol wipes. I'm informed on how to install the PC. And it comes with directions . All I'm worried about is the mapping and settings for my bike

Yup. Comes with directions, at least mine did brand new. There is also a wire you have to clip onto for signal, I think it's a gray wire...

What exactly is the signal wire? Can you elaborate please? The purpose? Is it instructed with the directions the PC comes with ??
