Yes, Know certainly not your most frequent poster.  Will think of some suitable penance for my absense.  Hope tho someone can give a suggestion with a prob' with my bike.  Traded the 620 in on the 796 last Aug. Got the heated grips swapped over and termis put on with remapping.  Awesome totally love her. Unfortunately have had ongoing - lost count of how many times she has been back to shop- probs with the engine warning light. Turn key on light stays on, turn key off light goes out.  The thingimagi under the seat has been replaced to no avail. It does not seem to affect the running of the bike but is rather annoying as I live over 200k from the dealer. I actually wrote a letter to Sig Del Torchio in Bolognia as I was so pissed off. Dealer has been a bit more helpful since and they are now talking about replacing the dash. Has anyone else had a similar prob or any ideas to solve issue.

Did they stuff about with the butterfly idle valve on the exhaust (for some sort of US noise law) when they fitted the Termi's? You can disconnect the actuator cable for the valve but I'm told if the status sensor wire for the actuator is also disconnected you get an annoying dash light indicating an engine problem. Just an idea, something to check.

You reckon Mage's bike is a candidate for removing the valve and having a ducee fitted?

The sensor lead may still be there, tucked away under some tape or something under the seat, somewhere around the servo. If it is, plug it back in and see what happens to the engine warning light.

On my FZR 1000, with the EXUP valve in the exhaust the thing to do was to disconnect the servo motor to the valve(Cables)! For allegedly extra performance!?

But you had to leave the servo motor connected otherwise the electrical "loop" would be broken and cause warning system/alert to activate!  Huh? And some misbehaviour of the motor!!  Roll Eyes

Dunno if the Duc system works on the same principle but, as has been mentioned before the disconnection of part of the wiring (and breaking of a "LOOP"?) could be the cause of the illuminated light!?  waytogo

When your "check engine" light comes on... does it remain on for the duration or does it come and go following any particular pattern?

Also, when you're seeing the CEL, the ECU logs an error code.  If you ask your dealer what error codes they've found and report back, I may be able to shed a little light on what's pissing the ECU off.....

You dont have to completely disconnect the exhaust flapper loom plug to trip an error code.... if the actuator cable is incorrectly adjusted you'll also get the CEL come on at start up.  But this is only one of a myriad of possibilities... and something any half competent dealer ought be able to resolve pretty quickly.

and termis put on with remapping.
Remapping?  If you bought a Termi kit it would have come with a remapped "racing" ECU.  Do you still have the stock ECU?

Pull the bulb out of the dash.
