Still trying to figure out if I'll be able - is there a listing of recommended lodging options? I haven't been to Ouray since I was a kid - dad was driving, and it was the 1970s, so even if I remembered the layout of the town, I imagine it's changed a bit!

Not likely. Still has a "small town" vibe with "Main Street" lined with small shops. I bet it'd bring back some memories...

the problem is i still have to get past KS, NE, or OK. I am not a fan of driving across any of those states. (and I have done all 3)

You could just meet up with me and I will make Nebraska interesting for you.

If you hit up the website, it will suggest the Best Western (It's nice). They own and use the same reservation system for the condos down the road where we (and the NM crew) stay.

Anyone looking for a place to crash at Ducati in the Rockies this year? Robin and I have a fold out couch available for $75/night. Let me know. Breakfast from Master chef Robin is included along with whatever beer and beverages find their way into the fridge. We will be staying at the Alpenglow Condos about 3 blocks from the epicenter of festivities at the Best Western.

If it wouldn't take me 3 full days to ride there I'd be all over this :(

Sigh, I miss my backyard.  Have fun on the million dollar highway guys.  If you see some old, fat guy on a R1200GS... be nice to him.  It's probably my old man.

You make it to Des Moines on the Wednesday night before, and you can ride out the rest of the way with me.

Des Moines isn't that far, a full day for me.

That much slab again, the next day. . .

I'd quickly turn into "All slab and no hills makes Kevin a dull boy"  and id start looking for an axe.
