Best place to buy tires online
«
on:
April 24, 2012, 10:25:56 PM »
Hi everyone,
After a long hiatus - I stored my bike for almost 4 years, I am prepping (and planning mods again!) my 2004 S4R.
Obviously, after such a long period and after finally checking everything else, the first thing is to buy new tires (and a long list of other things).
I have spent quite some time investigating which tires to buy since I was always a Michelin fan (which by itself is another discussion) and deciding if this time I will buy the tires online (still deciding between PowerPures and Bridgestone S20s).
Has anyone purchased tires from Kneedraggers.com or Motorcycle-superstore.com? Do they sell recently manufactured tires?
Any feedback will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Alf

As far as i know Motorcycle Superstore wont ship APO.... Then again you might be able to call them and explain that its shipped to jersey or NY then gov takes care of the rest....

yes, both places. And yes the tires are fresh. They and a number of other big retailers aren't the ones doing the shipping or storing of the tires - they basically contract to wholesaler like Parts-Unlimited. The store acts as the retail agent, but none of their folks touch the tires.
A set of skins I got from knee draggers had parts-unlimited labels on them and came from a different location than the Kneedraggers warehouse.
As said I've bought from Kneedraggers in the past, and would again. The tires I purchased last week were from Motorcycle-superstore - but that was because they stocked some other items I needed that other shops didn't. Not due to any issues with knee draggers or other vendors I've used.

Ive used Motorcycle-superstore several times. I like that they will drop ship to my preferred installer foir free. When they come in "Matt" calls me and says they are there. I pull my wheel and head on over. He switches the tire for me and I give him $25 and am on my way again. Works great for me!

Revzilla's prices are very low with fixed $5 shipping each tire.
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle-tires#v2-facets%5B%5D=118&page=1&page_size=48&sort=featured
Motosport also has very low prices and free shipping
http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/tire-combos
I have ordered from both places and seem to have the lowest prices I can find. Revzilla gives cash discounts on your next order.

I got my Pirelli Angel's from motorcycle-superstore, and I have no complaints at all. Price was very good, shipping was reasonably fast as far as I remember (I'd probably remember if it wasn't).
When comparing prices, keep in mind that some shops will charge more if you walk in with the tires vs. if you buy from them. Just another factor to consider when pricing out tires. Even with the added cost, I saved a bundle buying online. Then the shops were too busy to install the tires that day, so I did it myself and saved even more!

Got a new rear Pirelli Diablo from motorcycle superstore. Love that site, always fast shipping and prices seem fair.

Make sure you have a place that will mount them. I found out the hard way that my local shops wouldn't mount a tire unless it was purchased from them. Ended up costing me more in the long run.

Thanks to everyone for all your feedback.
I went with Kneedraggers...they had the S20s on sale ($210.00) for both front and rear and I should receive them on Tuesday.
I will certainly write a review on these tires....it is the first time I am using non-Michelin on any bike.
Thanks again

+1
I've bought several sets of tires from these guys. They ship SUPER fast, have great prices and the tires have always been fresh.
