I'm trying to find a good balance between "pretty" and "raw/race/homemade" components.
Solid red swingarm with the other red is too pretty for my bike - not raw enough IMO.

An example of what would throw that balance off - remove the "pretty" parts tank and seat cowl, put on a California CycleWorks track tank - it all goes to hell - too much "raw/race/homemade".

What makes my bike look good (if it does) has a lot to do with the use of interesting, not pretty, parts.
As an example - the BST wheels, measured as a design object, are not as nice as stock - they just look great because we know what they are all about.  Open belt covers - not as nice as stock, but adds "raw/homemade".
