In this third world country (Philippines) they have been abolished for years........
In the revenue state (victoria) they'll never scrap 'em.

Doesnt matter that they're an irrelevant, antiquated relic.

We all know that when  Police  pulls you over and asks "is this your vehicle?"  he already knows to whom its registered (or not).  But in VIC I'm predicting rego labels will remain.

If they abolished 'em then how they gonna book you for not displaying it... or for displaying it but all rolled up in a tube... or sideways... or  bang head bang head

Very good J5, it is a bit of a waste of an item to attach to your bike or trailer.

It does confuse me also Rob that people need a sticker to remind them to pay it.
The info behind the story was that there are many more people risking not paying their rego because there are no stickers in place now, well in WA and SA and some people are calling for them to be bought back.

the real problem is if you rent a car or drive a company car then you will be the one responsible for
driving unrego

true story
a workmate driving his personal company van

he had changed over all his details at the rta
but his business was obviously under his business name so that was missed in the address chance
so the rego papers went to his old house not long after he moved

so with all the moving and busy life it was missed

along comes the police and pulls him over

smart arse senior copper gets him out of the van and round to the windscreen and points at the windscreen and says whats that ?
he replies its a crack in the windscreen but isnt in line of sight so it is ok
he replies no that sticker
he looks and says ahh yeh , but i havent got the rego papers , cant understand it
the rego had expired 2 days prior
a bit of too and fro and he realises the rta error in address change over

copper continues carrying on about he is the driver , driving that vehicle everyday that he should know
when the rego expires

by now poor josh is wound up and had a gutfull

he asks copper , is that your police car ? yes
do you drive it everyday ? yes

do YOU know when the rego expires Huh? ahh no

2 younger coppers controlling fits of laughter watching senior guy being made a fool

he cops $400 odd in fine and on his way unhappy for the fine but happy for giving one back to the cops

i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

Good story, very funny. Shame he still got fined but I guess it was always going to happen.

I'm actually thinking of leaving mine on..........with a little note inside to  Police just in case he bends down and has a look something like

"OINK OINK" or " I SMELL BACON "

Tassie is usually a few years behind these kind of developments but it seems we may get the change here soon as well.
