Gas...$212.
Driving Time...12 Hours.
1 Night at the Comfort Inn...$99
Crappy meals at Dennys...$25.
2009 KTM 690 SMC...$6800.
Knowing that you can jump intersections and ride up staircases...priceless.

Just got home and this beautiful machine is now in my garage. It was well worth the drive...now I just need to learn how to ride the damn thing [evil]

Yep. It's intended to replace the Yamaha.

Ripped this thing around the city today to get used to it...I can see why people love supermotos. A few first impressions:
1. WOW...this thing is light.
2. Suspension needs a bit of work...I'm a bigger guy, so it tends to squat a bit.
3. It's geared a bit high, so the wheelies aren't out of control...yet. And it's actually not bad on the freeway.
4. I *stil* need to learn how to ride this damn thing. Foot out just seems...unnatural.

2. Check the numbers, most of these come stiff from the factory, many riders soften them up, or maybe your not use to the amount or travel. But if the pre owner was a smaller guy and had the thing worked over, then yeah. i Had superplush in SF do my forks, feels great. they softened up the front end a little.

3. stock gears? At least get a 15 front.

4. I only do the leg out thing on slower or tighter turns, all else ride as normal. But i do tend to "push" the bike under me instead of hanging off to the inside.

Definitely not stock...this guy was smaller, and very meticulous in his setup.

No, I have the stock sprockets but this thing is up a tooth in front and down a couple teeth in back.

Thanks! Was thinking about you and your Duke as I went through the purchase. At some point we'll have to compare KTM notes :)

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Is there anyone around here who can learn this girl how to get dirty?

I had to learn not to use the foot out technique when I started riding on the street. I like to jump off high curbs. I think there is still a nice high one on Park Presidio & Fulton unless they lowered the sidewalk. Now you can ride up on the sidewalk pretty easy too, with just a slight blip of the throttle you just loft the front wheel over the curb 3 or 4 inches and ride down some pedestrian paths.  [evil]
