its a cool bike, but for 20g's I could build a spectacular street bike with money to spare for a track beater.

My local Duc Shop is going to be carrying these now. Give it a few years and there will be used ones floating around on ebay for $12-14K with 5K miles on them. That'll be a good time to bite.

Be careful about putting money down on one,if it is not in stock. Most of their waiting list bikes have been delivered to customers in the UK as opposed to USA.Many people here have asked for their refund back after waiting over a year.Support will be few and far between.
They have a 270 degree crank firing order(old ones,360) making them sound more like a Ducati (not a bad thing) than the old Norton snarl.

I've been interested in the new Nortons since the Kenny Dreer days. I've come to the conclusion that it isn't going to happen. No bikes have been delivered in the U.S.

Gorgeous, but overpriced.

You could pick up a Sport 1000 for a lot less (though the prices seem to keep increasing) and perform some upgrades.

According to the official NortonMotorcycles the 2012 Commando 961 SE is SOLD OUT. The Cafe Racer and Sport Editions are still available. I think with what you'd pay for a Sport 1000 these days (when you can find one) after Ohlins upgrades etc. you'd be pretty close to $20K especially if you're not doing the upgrades yourself and thats for a used bike. Here's a brand new bike in the crate... again if you can get one. Not to mention the Sport 1Ks albeit beautiful  drool are supposedly "uncomfortable to ride" but I guess that opinion can be subjective.

Not to mention... Picking up a finished rebuilt Norton can set you back between $25K-$50k easily.
