Has anyone fitted Woodcraft or the like clip ons to a pre 2002 model? I'm interested in the clearance between the clip ons and the top triple clamp where the two clamping screws out at the outside edges.

Last time we discussed this issue, we didn't find a solution IIRC.
Aftermarket top triple?
SpeedyMoto Fatboy riser clip ons maybe? Their risers mount on the outside of the triple...

the owner wanted the Rizoma PD202, but it's for the later bikes with the large steering stem, and PJ's thought it would be an expensive experiment. apart from the centre size (probably an easy spacer) the dash mounts are different spacing and style and the headlight support is in a slightly different place it seems.
I haven't found any photos for the early bikes. i guess pre 98 SS clip ons might work, but the top triples aren't the same. those screws at the outer edge and indicator mounts are a pita.

I don't remember the details, but the offset is shorter on this bike (?) That might be the reason why the stock, and IMA SpecialParts' Model 1, triple has to have the bolts in front - to avoid clearance issues (triple vs tank/frame). If that's true, we're back to SpeedyMoto or Apex adjustable riser clip ons...

Im using no rise Apex bars on my 99 750. I just have to get those brackets for coffin style reservoirs. Otherwise they are cool as hell.
Ps-not sure if this has been posted before or if its not cool to do so, but when buying diect from Apex, be sure to order your bars in seperate parts. You end up saving a few bucks that way. Too bad for me i realized this after I ordered mine.

Motowheels has some 2" rise clip one that I've been looking at. I raised my forks 30mm in the triple to facilitate them being on top. I had them hung under before and that was too far forward for me. The motowheels pieces only need 19mm of clamping surface so they might be a little closer to stock bars with the rise. I looked at woodcraft and they won't clear the pinch bolts.

My M750 came stock with ~20mm of forks above the tripple...Got the MW clipon with riser and it fits perfectly. But I noted that since the bar are basically straight, they did hurt my wrists a bit after long ride. Unlike Apex clip on, they do have a little bend at the bar and I think that may help. However, I removed the riser and kept the clipon above the tripple, now my wrists are a lot better...more agressive riding position though, which not all that bad.

3" rise Woodcraft's on my '00 M900 fouled against the top triple. I got around it by having a machine shop fab up some spacers to offset the riser out far enough to clear. They are quite high - around stock height.
They are as wide, if not wider, than stock.
They can have clearance issues with the tank if you position them with typical clip on sweep angle.
All of this is a little different with WoodCraft (if it matters)

i'm putting cycle cat clip-ons on my '99 m900. hope i don't run into clearance issues i figure they'll go under the top triple (and they have a 2.5" rise so i may not be pressing my chest fully to the tank). do you think i am screwed? hadn't thought of these concerns...

i think i did, but it was more that one had been wound out far enough for the forks to hit the frame or pretty close to it. i think one side was mostly untouched.
