My 09 696 has 33k on it now and I really want to see what a fuel tank and spray intake treatment of Seafoam will do to it. Ive heard alot of success coming from people doing both treatments on their sportbikes..

So would I have to take the fuel tank off to do the spray treatment? or do I just hook it up to the vacuum lines coming off of the emissions canister (Im in California) I know how the process works, but I just want to know the best way to hook it up to my bike..

If noone's done it on the 696, looks like I'll have to figure it out and post something.

Taking the tank off is a pita because of the fuel lines and electrical lines.  I rode off most of the gas and lifted it up enough to take the top of the airbox and filter off, then used a water spray. 

Test the vacuum lines to make sure both are open.  Sometimes one is closed and the other used to sync.  Let us know how it works.

I am using SeaFoam on a regular basis, but always within the tank, mixed with fuel. Never did the direct intake injection (or vacuum line) thing.

I run seafoam through the tank on every used bike I buy. That stuff is a miracle in a can.

I ran the seafoam treatment on my 696.. here's how it went.

The stuff really does work. And Im sure its not done doing its work since I only ran about a half tank of the treated fuel. The throttle response is very good now- its like how it was when the bike only had 2k on it. The idle is excellent too.

Basically, I stuck the spray tube into the intake right before the throttle body. To make sure the tube was pointing into the TB plate so I didnt spray into the airbox, I wrapped the tube around the handle of a socket wrench once and passed a lighter under it a few times(made sure the tube was dry and was away from the bike) This made a "U" in the tube so that it did point into the TB butterfly. Stuck the  spray tube in it and tightened the clamp back.. Didnt have to touch the tank at all, I was glad. I idled the bike and sprayed about 1/3 a can on each TB. It smoked ALOT.. I see smoke coming out of exhaust leaks where the slip on mufflers go on. Then I turned it off and let it sit... Meanwhile I put about 3.5oz of the liquid seafoam in the tank(it was near empty) since I live less than a block from the gas station. 5 mins later I started it up and limped it to the Chevron and filled it up with 93 octane vs my normal 87. On the test ride, for about what seemed like under a 1/4 mile there was a thick white cloud following me around. I hoped I didn't get pulled over. Punched it through some mild curves and got the RPMs moderately high. I started to feel a difference in the throttle response immediately. Then I proceeded to do a 70 mile run which comprised of canyons and freeways.

Im pretty sold on this stuff. It almost makes me want to put some nipples on the intake hoses just so its easy to do this in the future.

Edit: also, I noticed that the vacuum lines go in after the throttle body. Its better to spray in front of the TB, so I didn't bother with squirting into the vacuum lines.
