Grease on Shaft and Loctite on Threads for Engine Mounting Bolt?
«

Putting on a T-Rex Frame Slider. For the Engine Mount Bolt - Ducati says Grease but I'm not sure if they mean on the shaft or the threads. Not sure why they'd put grease on the shaft and typically I do Loctite on the threads. Whats the right way to do this?

NEVER GREASE the threads unless its says, usually grease on the threads means you will probably overtorque the bolts/nuts, grease on teh shaft keeps it free so if you ever have to remove it it can slide out, ive seen many bolts in my day that get seized because of corrosion that may occur, the grease keeps it out

When the Ducati manual referes to grease, sometimes it is referring to anti-seize.
Usually, if on the threads, it'll be anti-seize.
If on the shaft, grease.

grease on everything. well, i tend to use anti seize on threads and spray grease (wurth hhs2000) on the shaft and i'd spray it inside the case holes too.
ducati typically didn't change any torque specs when they started greasing things that i noticed.
