Tire Life

Just pushing 5000km in just under two months on the 796, and well I am curious as to the life you guys are getting on the stock tires. I believe they they are Rossi, but I could be wrong and I don;t feel like going out in the rain to look at the moment.  Anyways, from the looks of the tire I would guess I am about half way through and probably got another 5-6000km's to go.  Which leads me tommy next question, what is a good replacement tire for the PNW??  WE typically get a lot of rain and I ride in it as well, well most days, not downpours, I have enough issues with dodging little old ladies who just like to cut me off, I don;t want to have o worry about them in a down pours. 

Any who any input would be appreciated!!  I use to be just a fair weather rider when I lived in Phoenix.  So far the stock tires haven;t let me down, they are working pretty darn well to be honest, took me awhile to get use to riding in the rain though well more trusting the traction.  Found out quickly how slick those damn crack sealed areas are unfortunately, nothing like taking a corner and having the back wheel kick out a couple of inches, pretty sure my arse puckered up and I had to change the undies after that one.

If you ride in the rain quite often I highly recommend the Pilot Road 3's. They stick like nothing else. Pretty good in the dry too. Plus you're in phoenix so you could use the extra mileage they provide with all the flatness.

Since you like what you have, and I do too, go for Rosso II's. Same grip and predictability but longer life according to several reviews. IMHO, ANY Michelin is like riding on concrete, grip or no grip. Carcass must be too stiff.

On the stock tires I believe I got about 4500 miles out of the back tire.  That however included 2 track days.  I just put on Pilot 3's and so far with about 500 miles on them they have been absolutely great.  A few rainy rides and cold wether rides on them and nothing but good things.  I haven't really taken any roads with nice corners yet but they look to be good with that as well.

Pilot Road 2s or 3s are great tires for the PNW (I'm in Seattle and have ridden Pilot Roads in a TON of rain).

Excellent. I'll look into those for my next set. I don't mind the the stock tires, just figure i might as well start looking for an alternative for the pnw.

Sadly, I'm not in phoenix anymore, we got rain i believe 20 times if that in the 4 yrs i lived in ahwhatukee.  Great place though for riding a bike, but the drivers are horrible. I was scared stiff riding around there, people all over the roads, actually its no different then any city when i think about it. But i saw a crap load if accidents though involving bikes
