wouldn't be the 1st one we've seen...but that is an interesting casing structure for sure...I guess the hump is for a helluva counterbalancer in the lack of top cylinder...

I am curious.  Why the forward cylinder?  Low center of gravity?  Is there some feature of the L-twin geometry that favors that cylinder?  Any information would be appreciated.

Maybe cooling as well...the vertical cylinders tend to run hotter. Maybe doesn't matter since it's water cooled though.

It seems like using the vertical cylinder would provide more flexibility for chassis layout though...allowing for a longer swingarm without the front wheel touching the motor. Of course, that idea seems to be relatively new, so maybe not considered at the time the Supermono was designed.
