Oh, boy!
ANY bargain insurance is a problem. Ideally YOU should not be chasing anyone to have a claim resolved. Some are better than others. Unlike most of us, YOU can always sue.
In NJ which has the most expensive rates in the country, I was with Chubb. Chubb is very expensive. On the other hand, Chubb deals with any issue you have so that YOU don't have to.
I'm retired now and can't afford Chubb in VA (although it's 1/2 what I paid in NJ). I did switch my one collector car to them this year because they were 40% lower for agreed value than my last specialist insurer. Go figure! And I KNOW Chubb will pay if I have a claim, otherwise you might as well self-insure.
In VA for comparison you might do what I did which was to get a referral to an Allstate agent from a customer who has had a great claim experience with that individual agent. Then the agent chases any problem like yours. Allstate was the cheapest I found for home/auto/bike/umbrella. You'll pay extra for NoVa of course. But see how that goes.
As for glass repair, maybe you should have taken it to the dealer and used THEIR glass guy. If the windshield broke, they'd own it. Never had that happen though and we repaired a lot of windshields on our used cars to pass state inspection as long as it wasn't in the driver's line of sight. Unfortunately, I replaced 4 winshields in my own car in 5 years due to #@&%*$ Rte. I-80. I still used my dealership's glass guy and had them order an OEM windshield from a dealer. The work was guaranteed.
Never bothered with glass coverage in NJ because it wasn't good value. In VA it seems to be.
Rather than fight with GEICO over your faulty repair, why not file a new claim for a BROKEN windshield and replacement? Consider who you are dealing with!
BTW, my Allstate agent has a deal with a local independent (like the service my dealership used) who will "cover my $50 deductible" for windshield replacement and use OEM which I demand since I have rain sensor. Questioned him closely on this, having been in the biz for 40+ years.
"You may not always get what you pay for, but you definitely WON'T get unless you pay"! (something, anyway)
Good luck! (And if all else failed, the NJ Insurance Commissioner bought cars from me!
