flywheel tool?
«
on:
June 27, 2012, 11:48:03 AM »
Anyone local have a flywheel holding tool (pn 88713.2036) they could loan me?
Yeah, I know there are a few tricks to get around the Ducati tool, but the tool seems like the way to go on the SBK.

The engine-turning tool, or are you talking about some fancy-schmancy flywheel tool. I don't know nuthin' about bikes, but I think we have something like that. I just need a little clarification.

Fancy-schmancy thing that bolts to the side-stand holes and immobilizes the stock flywheel to apply the 270Nm torque to the large flywheel nut without undue stress on other components. This is an example for an 848/1098 (there are a few variations):

Nope, sorry, what we have isn't even close to that. Sorry, but good luck. I'm sure someone here can hook a brotha up. Maybe try BARF too?

Thanks for checking! BARF is a good idea, too.
Plan B is to use the ducatitoolrental.com company. They have the 848/1098 tool in the pic, and some Ducati cross-reference info uncovered late today suggests it might also work on the testastretta. Worth a shot.

Here's a thought too--there are AFM races at Sears Point this weekend. If you have nothing better to do you might swing by in the a.m. and see if someone will lend it to you. It's a long-shot, but what the hay?

Mission accomplished. The rental 848/1098 tool works great on the 749.

I have 749 forks on the Monster or are they 748 forks? There is probably a slight difference.
