Should I buy a S4RS?

that's kinda apples and oranges mick, for a start, it's generally acknowledged that the extra fruit doesn't add value, it may or may not make it more desirable to the buyer but there's no guarantees, the guy is asking 16, if he hangs on he may get it, 14 would get it sold a lot quicker and is at the low end for that bike. you suggest 12 for yours as a high mark but really, 8 is on the mark for an 800, a mate just traded his s2r 1000 for 10.5 but the changeover figure meant he really only got about 8.5.
It's a buyers market for sure, and not much is moving at the moment so i don't blame you for lowballing the guy, who knows, you may have gotten lucky, and to be fair, you may get it at 12 in a couple of weeks, but i still reckon you should figure out what the suspension mods on the S2R will cost and add that to your offer, cause if you really want a new bike continuing to mod the one you have is just throwing it away

I already have. Let's face it it might be a while before I can sell the 800 so need to ensure I don't go broke in between. I'm not a fan of borrowing money for a depreciating asset so either I get the bike for the cash I have or simply walk away. There will always be another and this is simply an opportunity. I still have the Kwaka to restore and that should take my mind off the bike for a while. Who knows perhaps I could get a good trade in on a S1000RR?

I just picked up an outstanding Tricolore with 8500 on the clock, all maintenance done,  new tires,  full Term, tank revision, all original parts,  and ducumentation up the wazoo for 8500 USD.

The market is yours if you have the knowledge and cash.

Black Book says auction wholesale on it is 9900.

There was a used Tricolore for sale when i bought my 696...i think it was like $11,500...Ive been kicking myself NON STOP since the day I convinced myself I wanted to start with the 696...

There's a point there. For $8500, you could afford to buy the bike in the US, ship it here, then buy an old M400 or something on ebay for the frame, and swap the 400 bits with vin numbers to the S4, and still be ahead.

Bonus points for swapping engine numbers so you can still register/insure it as a 400 lams bike.

In the US we call that fraud.  That being said, my Jeep is a 1979 with the body from a 1995 wrangler...and the numbers match.

And draw suspicion to myself too??  I wouldnt dream of it!    Since the title on the jeep is expired I had to have a local black and white stop and "verify the vin"  I was a little edgy, but hes like "YEP! LOOKS GOOD TO ME!"
