Just Ride!

« on: July 14, 2012, 10:39:07 AM »

TO DEALS GAP!!!!!!!!!

We were in the area, so why not? Right? Because the day before my bike looked like this.

I worked well into the night to get it back together. Major service was needed on the hub and swingarm pivot. I also took the time to install a new sprocket and chain. After some new rubber I was ready for the ride of a lifetime!
It was a great day! here are a few pics:

We did not contribute to "The Tree of Shame". We did get to see a few new "ornaments" get hung up though.

That's my Father out in front. I passed him a few times. We tried to get a few pics together.

My Father had a blast as well. He is still talking about some of the sections and how much fun it was!

I cant wait to go back! This was the best 4th of July weekend ever!

that sounds like a fantastic way to spen some time with your old-man. The pictures with both of you riding in them would be something I would imagine you will treasure for a long time.

On a side note. It seems everytime I see pictures of the "tree of shame"  it's grown more motorcycle parts. It certainly was a sobering totem to see the first time I rode down there and I think a good thing to see before riding 129.

Wish I could have ridden with my Dad... he passed away a year and a half ago.  My sister has his bike and just got it fixed up and running.  It is a 84 Kawasaki.

My dad got a bike a few years ago, after I made him jealous with mine. He hadn't ridden on over 30 years. Bought a comm system, and we go on rides every once in a while up into the mountains. Once in a while I have to remind him that I KNOW his bike can go faster than that...  Wink

My Father was "getting on it" in some sections. I was much faster in the tight sections. we kept it sane for the most part. There was a good amount of traffic for a Monday. Cops were out in full force as well. They had a fatality the day before and two major wrecks the day we were there.

he's got a bit of custom baffle work in there and some small slip ons to contain them.

Hey Aus - I'm assuming that master worked out for you then? Hope so, I'll be happy to know I contributed to some good Father/Son time in a small fashion

Yes, it worked! I should have added that to the story. I just got it installed on the 1st of July. Im very happy with the trade. Thanks again!

What he(SP) said ^. and...Rides well. A little bit of back fire at very low RPM's while on the gas. The sound is loud, but without the real deep notes. The low notes hurt my ears for some reason. This mod solved that issue.

I agree. It was an eye opener. By the end of the day we had seen two crashes and a few more parts hung up.
