Do 60mm Handlebar Raisers require longer cables on a 696?

Here's the story. I own a 2009 Monster 696, I bought Rizoma Conical Handle Bar and 60mm handlebar riser adapters, to give me a more comfortable riding position. I went to the dealer today get an estimate on the install and they quoted me about $850!!!! They explained to me it would be about 1 hour to install the bar and an additional 3 hours/ plus parts, if it was nessecary to install longer clutch and break cables.
So my question is do I need longer cables for a 60mm rise? Also would this be a mod I can do myself? It seems pretty straight forward, if it doesn't require longer cables, take everything off the stock bar and put it back onto the rizmoa bar? But of course I could be wrong.
Toughts? Advice?

Probably would need new longer cables for 60mm riser's, That's about +2.6" higher.. I think.
But new Spiegler cables probably run around $120 or so....
Does that $850 include the bars & riser's?

No, the price they quoted me included the labor and purchasing longer cables. I've already bought the handlebar & raisers. That's why I think the price is sort of steep.

If this includes electric wires (maybe), plus throttle and cold start cables and brake lines, I guess a 4 hour quote can be realistic...
With 50-80 mm Rizoma rise AND 60 mm bar risers, some, if not all, of the above will probably required.

imo, id go a lesser rise and have a go at a home install for sure!! much better value for money than that.
try installing the bars alone and see how you feel about the height (if they are different height bars then std). Then with the new bars installed and all plumbed up you can undo the mounts and try to slip in the risers to see what it will require, but as above, i think you will need to extend a lot of stuff for that kinda rise and the best value will be biggest rise possible with the std cables. also remember that re-routing some of the cables may give you that extra few mm you need to make it work right, test all controls and that the cables arent stretched at full lock in both directions.
Good Luck with it

i think the shortest one is the throttle cable, and you can use the one from the Hyper instead
you may want to try the Rizoma MA005 bar that is more swept back, and the 40mm adapters first...that may be upright enough for you
you can do that install yourself with regular tools

Hey guys, thanks for the replies you've given me a lot of good info here. Unfortunately, I do need the 60mm rise, I sat on a bike with the 42mm Rizoma's and it was just too low for me. (I'm 6'3" and pretty lancky in my arms and legs). I also recently purchased the ducati preformance comfort/ touring seat for my 696 so now I'm sitting about 1/2 an inch higher then I was with the stock seat.
Jeff H, are you saying I'd be able to install the stock cables from the Hyper if I stuck with the 60mm or that would only work with the 40mm risers?

I installed the Rzoma bars & 60mm risers on a 2009 696 with stock cables, the clutch side was no problem at all. Throttle side works but you have run the adjustment nut by TB all the way in not ideal but it works, brake lines & everything else work fine. I ended up ordering a new throttle cable from Motion Pro exactly 1 inch longer then stock, the cable was only about $40.00. Motion Pro makes custom cables for all bikes good quality stuff.

Awesome to hear Link! How hard would you say the install was, would I be able to do it myself? Did the stock cables provide enough slack? Or would you recommend I just order the cables from Motion Pro before I attempting an install?
