Some of you know me from narrowlanes.net, my blog about cars, bikes, travel and the general motoring culture here in Italy.  I'm a Canadian, ex-pat (soon to be re-pat) living in Milan, Italy for the past 5 years or so.  I also ride an '07 S2R800 that I acquired in 2009 and have been loving it ever since.

My recent posts here on DMF have received a lot of good feedback from you guys (which I really appreciate) on rides I've done and the places I've visited here. So I was thinking, instead of me picking a place that I might like,  I'd have you guys come up with ideas of what you'd like to see me do or where you think I should go next.  If I get 5 or more people agreeing on the same idea, I'll do it!

As mentioned, I'm based out of Milan and have basically ridden/driven almost everywhere within a 2 hour radius of the city.  While I don't want to set rules, I do have some parameters - I have to remain in Italy and I have to stay within a budget of 500 euro.

To get the idea ball rolling I'll throw out some suggestions: 1) ride into Rome 2) visit the ducati factory, interview a test rider and have him show me the roads where they test their bikes 3) ride the Amalfi coast

Keep in mind that the scope of my blog includes the context of where I am, talking about the significance of the location I'm visiting, the food, the micro-culture of a specific area.  I'm not keen on camping and I don't have the gear or enough skill for a track day.  Other than that, go nuts!

Looking forward to hearing your ideas.

Riding the Amalfi coast tops my list. Regarding suggestion #2, National Geographic did a pretty comprehensive documentary of Ducati Factory not too long ago. They also posted that video on YouTube.

Ducati guided tour of Rome would be nice....

The Passo della Futa....   I'd like to see if it's worth a detour next time I'm down there.

No track days? Aren't you even curious?

Tour around the Como, Iseo and Garda lakes...

Your final project should be "ladies in traffic" - a collection of Italy's finest!!

I'm very interested, I just don't have the gear. As far the lakes I've done lake Como tons of times, this is a ride I did from Lecco to Bellagio.

Is Sardinia an option?  I've heard great things about the coastal road(s) there.  I'd love to do it one day.

An Aprilia 50 in Capri would be my choice.  Short but sweet with a crapload of switchbacks!

My vote is for the Amalfi coast... but Rome wouldn't be bad either.

All great ideas so far!  Looks like 2 votes for Amalfi, 3 if you count Capri. I should start a poll.

I've been looking into Sardegna: The ferries to and from Sardegna would cost around 160-200 euro plus 110 of gas and highway tolls on mainland Italy (to and from Milan). 500-270 or more = tight.

I, along with the missus, vote for the Amalfi coast. Does that count as 2?  Grin
