I have these same clip ons on my bike.  They are said to be made by DUCATI???  I need a replacement bar for them, but not sure what will work.  The current bars in them now (not stamped) have a notch towards the end of them that go into the clamp.  One of the two clamping screws goes thru it to keep it in place.

Replacement bars that I'm finding do not have this "groove" in the bar, and I'm unsure if other bars would fit or if its a concern.  Wouldnt want them slipping out mid-turn somewhere.

thanks

If you want a bar with the groove get a 748/916/996 bar from Ducati.

A cheaper alternative is a Woodcraft bar and either make your own notch, or leave one screw out.

I've been running my 996 with only one screw since I bought it.

no issues huh?  Didnt think it would be safe with just the one screw.  I was in touch with Jeff @ Monsterparts (really helpful guy)  He suggested the Woodcrafts too.  Are they the same length and use the same endcaps as the bars with the "notch"?

Works for me.

Jeff really is helpful, and knows what's out there for options.

They are longer than the oem bars, but you can swap both tubes for less than the cost of one new oem tube. The end caps are similar.

The option of adding a groove is there to retain both bolts, but would weaken the tube IMO.

Just called the local dealer.  Apparantly you cant buy just a replacement OEM bar.  You have to buy the entire assembly with the actual clamp.  You wouldnt have a part# handy for the OEM tube would ya?

I don't.

That's why everyone uses aftermarket tubes I guess.

Thanks ducpainter!  That 2nd auction you posted looks like exactly what I need.  Delivery time from Germany is crazy though.  The bars with the groove in them have a solid shaft about 2" long at the end where the groove is.  Guess thats to help for strength.  I'm assuming the Woodcrafts dont have these?  So if I did decide to groove it out it may weaken them?

Jeff says the Woodcrafts wont fit.  Slightly larger diameter.

I have one on my 996.

In the stock clamp.

I guess it doesn't fit. Undecided

How do you like these clip-ons? I have a set on order from Monsterparts. Took a spill Monday and the cast aluminum stock bar risers BROKE OFF bang head, so I decided on these.

I'm happy with them.  I'm a taller rider (6') and have a long reach, so the positioning feels natural for me.  I ended up using a Woodcraft replacement bar and put the required groove into it with a grinder.  Works good!
