Ive been doing some extended rides on my 696 and am experiencing so pretty intense wrist pain (old injuries) and pain on the palms of my hands. Obviously I have to much weight on them.

Can anyone recommend a combo to help out? Maybe a brand/bend of bar that works better? risers? etc...

Rizoma 60mm risrers & Rizoma bars did the trick the rise is a great improvement and the bars have a different bend then stock which seem to put your arm & wrist in a straighter line a big comfort improvement. We just got back from a 700 mile ride and there were no fatigue or comfort issues with the 696.

Link,

How much further do the Rizoma bars bend back?
Did you have to fit a longer throttle cable for them, or any other longer parts?
What year is your 696?

I ask b/c I have the same issue as loopsrider with the palms of my hands (yes I realise how that sounds! Smiley) and am considering the combination you have.  I ask about the year b/c my local dealer advises taller handlebar brackets were installed for 2011 696s onwards and 2010 796s onwards.  P/Ns for the throttle cables etc changed at the same time (I am guessing they got lengthened).

Thanks.

Before you change anything else out, have you adjusted your brake and clutch levers as low as they can go?  I cant stress how much that helps with wrist pain.

Also, what year 696? If it's the pre 2010 version you might want to look into picking up the 796 riser for your bars.  It's about a inch higher I believe and it should bolt right in... but i would double check that as I might be wrong as I know the bars are diff btwn the 696 and then 796/1100
