If it's truly an '08, yes, that's a 695.

That is indeed a 695.  Not sure what year.

The mirrors are not stock.

It will have a plastic tank, so have him check the tank/frame fit (expansion issues).

KBB lists an 08 695 in *excellent* condition as $5100 retail - so that's what a dealer might want to get. Trade in lists at $3600 for *good*

I don't think if even meets *good* as it needs repairs right off the bat. For that asking price better can be had

I didn't think the 695 came with the evap canister under the side pod.  The clutch housing, belt covers and swing arm look like a 695 dark, but the frame and tank are the wrong color and the evap canister with no oil cooler would appear to indicate a 620.

The frame sticker will tell you where the frame came from, but this seems a screwy deal.  I'd go find one somewhere else.

As a previous owner:

The 695 did come with an evap can in that location, that color combo was stock, and an oil cooler was not stock.

I would agree at that price look elsewhere.

Er what?

No oil cooler on a 695. All 695s came with blacked out triples, swing arm, rear sets and accessory cases. Black on red was a standard color combo for the 695

And the US spec DSS monsters have at the evap can in that spot since the 900 was the big boy Monster.

I did say, "I thought."  I had a 695 dark for a while, and it had the same side plastic thingies as my S2R only with the 695 logos, hence my confusion.  Apparently the symmetricallizing was part of the carbon-fiberizing the PO had done.

I also mistakenly thought the blacked out bits were part of the dark package.

I was wrong...

yeah, you could by the 'euro' side bits to make it even if you ditched the canister - or source them from an S*R bike like your bikes PO did.

Dark around the intro of the 620 usually got flat/not clear coat paint. That's the dead give away for them. The most typical example was the 620 dark with the metallic black tank and frame. Darks (at least 620) didn't get the passenger seat cover nor nose fairing bit as well as a couple other lower cost items. There was one version with a single front rotor and a 5-speed trans as well.
