How would you know?
«

I have sold and bought goods and gear on the parts for sale and gear for sale thread. All transactions have gone smoothly and fairly. But I was wondering, as a buyer, how would you know if the seller was planning to "stick it to you?"
The buyer usually pays before the item is shipped, so the buyer is taking the real risk.
What precautions can a buyer take?

you call the psychic hotline.
for the buye, use paypal and credit card.
for the seller, do not use paypal and do not accept credit card.
its that simple. ironic isnt it?

I never bought anything here (but I would). I have bought many things on ADVRider and other bike related sites. I have never had a problem in fact I've made great friends in the past.

So are you saying that if the deal turns sour the buyer can cancel the credit card charge when ising PayPal?
By the way He Man, I bought a used Speedy Moto clutch cover from you about two years ago. Great deal! Thanks!
Also, I know I wouldn't hesitate to do business with you again, along with some other trustworthy people on this forum.

yes as a buyer, you can claim it wasnt as described and paypal has the power ( because the seller authorized it) to rip it straight out of your bank account.
As a buyer, if you used a credit card, you can say that it wasnt as described and the creditcard (i know Chase and AMEX will do this) will refund you the money and yank it from paypals account, and then they will yank it from the sellers account.
as a seller, if the buyer decides to pull a quick one on you, they will say that the credit card wasnt authorized for use and since you already sent the item and they have it, they will yank it from your account and give it back to them.
Paypal is evil in every which way just like ebay is evil.
Amazon 4teh winz! i should open a competing paypal with less fees. Paypal just gouges the shit out of you.
and your still welcome. I have another clutch cover if youre intrested! :p

Another alternative to paypal is popmoney. Transaction goes straight to your bank account and it's like a buck or less for transaction up to $500.
As for transactions at DMF, so far I haven't had any problems and I have bought shit load of gears and parts. DMF members so far have been great.

Thanks, He Man. I don't need a clutch cover, but I am looking for an aftermarket pressure plate, preferably in gold.

So you would polish it down to the original aluminum color?

Could you send some pics after the repair? I'm pretty sure I'll take it.
