Well, I comfirmed it with some friends of mine.  I had them pic between the new BMW GS 800 and the Monster 696 and all 4 liked the Ducati much better.  Looks like my Alaska trip will have to wait a bit longer.  There has to b a way to get both bikes though.....  [moto]

you and you friends made the right choice, no regrets here. 696 is just awesome!  waytogo
I'm totally addicted to riding mine and just staring at it when I'm not  waytogo
Money well spent, show as pics once you get yours.

Took a look at a red one today.  My wife wants it.  It will be here soon.

I got rid of my S4RS a few months ago and it still haunts me.

just came back from the The Official 696 Bashing Thread.. Evil
I loved the haters, it's quite entertaining how they bash the 696 like it's Ducati's step-child  bang head.
We all know that the new Monster is and will keep our beloved Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. afloat, as the company's moneymaker. waytogo
Without the 696 sales, there will be no Ducati Moto GP, 1098R, Desmosedici etc.
I rest my case, Stay safe and enjoy your Ducati to the fullest!!  [moto]

Unlikely. You *still* have that restraining order against me from the last time I offered to let you feel my love.

Ehem... Unless yer name begins with and "M" and ends with an "N" then there is no order, you must have me mistaken for the other Kitty.

I just picked up my pearl white 696 today and I love it!  I will post pics as soon as I get a chance.  I do have a quick question:  When the bike is turned off there are red blinking lights at the top of the digital instrument panel...is that normal?

Thanks,

Roy

Hello all,
I'm suppose to be getting my monster 696 sometime next week, but I'm reluctant to pull the trigger because i'm scared of the cost of maintenance.  I plan to use it for commuting 3 to 4 days a week and I'm just concerned about some of the problems I've read about the 696.  I love the new monster and would love to own one; but I'm seriously considering a Japanese bike just for the reliability and the cost of maintenance.

So my question is do any of you use your 696 for commuting?  Any problems?  And what's the cost for maintenance?

Thanks for your time
