No Monster of my own, but my wife has an '09 696

I agree with zedsaid that the ron has been caught making civil posts that were enjoyable to read. I also agree with the growing consensus that the reflexive negativity has become incredibly tiresome.

My wife loves eggplant. I hate it. Neither one of us is ever going to convince the other to change our opinions. Since I'm a grown-up I can understand that she likes something I don't and accept that as right and good. I can also watch her enjoy her eggplant or listen to her describe her enjoyment of it without feeling the need to remind her of my loathing for it - she already knows, just as we know how the ron feels about the 696.

Maybe he's a plant with a truly devious plan: I know I've found myself feeling defensive of the 696 in the face of his attacks despite my lukewarm feeling about it.

posts like this may be what a normal DMFer would post.. but then at the end.. you are reminded of the nonsense:

"i have the leo vince, and i like the twisty turny thing that leads to the can. however, as everyone around here already knows, i have a keen sense of lean running motors and.................
Oh by the way with the full system my eighthundred put out 77 hp at the rear wheel with 48lbs of torque. doesn't sound like much, but its a world of difference from stock.

oh, i haven't logged on in a while so let me get this out of my system......696  vomit vomit vomit vomit vomit vomit

you are entitled to your opinions.. no one has said any different. What you are not entitled to do is to ruin a thread with bunch of crap.. what do you think owners of a 696, that have found this forum as a place to share their excitement about their new ride feel when you bash their new bike? I would feel: not welcome.. especially when you tend to post and post and post again about it. Puke over yourself man... instead of on this forum or about the new Ducati. No one is bashing your S2R. Keep it to yourself.
All of you owneres of the new 696.. you have e COOL LOOKING BIKE that is a lot of fun!!! I loved it when I rode it and it serves as a fantastic stepping stone into the Ducati Family!!!   waytogo  [moto]

Perhaps you could just trust us when we say that anybody who cares, and many who don't, are fully informed of your opinion. The problem is in its constant and unwelcome repetition more than in its simple expression.

The Ron, there is a diffrernce between having an opinion and being a heckling, disruptive pest.  Heckling annoys people.

It was like looking at the librarian everyone says is good in bed and thinking "yeah, but she's so mousy"... then i saw the 696, and damn if she didn't let her hair down and slip into a pair of skinny jeans.

i created this account to say that is awesome.  absolutely hilarious.  best quote since "more fun than a barrel full of strippers"

that being said, i've had a red on order since feb..... sick of waiting....  dealer says they get blacks in, but no reds

has anyone in the states gotten a red yet?

<mod hat>

The Ron: Reread the forum rules. Specifically the part about thinking about "Will people think I'm being a jerk?" before posting.

From the "report to moderator" complaints we've gotten... well, clearly, people think you're a jerk.

Modify your posting style, or find another forum. Normally I'd be a bit more polite, but I remember banning you from TOB for similar reasons.

</mod hat>

Thanks didn't know that.  Wow I am a real n00b

I've largely enjoyed 'the ron's' banter.

Sure, he may over-do it occasionally, who doesn't? (ok, maybe the lurkers)

But he score's above average in making entertaining posts, imo.

He also has an inability to move on, styling-wise, but hey, nobody's perfect  Wink

I'm perfect. I'm surprised nobody has noticed.

I too don't get bothered by the Ron's remarks. I think he's entertaining. It seems to me that if people bugged by him would just ignore him, he'd stop. It's much like middle school.

It's fine for him to try and be funny, but there's nothing funny about his posts in this thread.

The thread starts with a post saying "I know some of you don't like it, this is a thread for those that do, go start your own 696sucks thread if you want to bash it" *paraphrased

I guarantee we're hungry enough for knowledge on the 696 that we're reading your posts that manage to bash it and stay on topic.  This is how i found the encouraging words that the ron let slip in that other thread.  And he managed to be funny at the same time, even when he did revert to the "i hate the 696" ron.

in my opinion he's shooting a pretty wide pattern...He may post a lot of funny posts, but that's just because he's posting so often, something's got to stick.  And his string on this thread has been a dud.

glad you liked, welcome to the board... I'm in LA and know of at least 2 dealerships with red 696 sitting on their salesfloors unsold.  I'm hoping that fact will help me get the deal i want.

having briefly lurked on both boards, this one seems to have turned out for the better; began lurking right around the time of the split looking for 696 reviews.

in michigan, and though i'd love a ride from LA back--drove it in a jeep last summer--don't think it'll work out.

Anxiously awaiting a 696...

Thank you very much to the posters trying to keep us on topic here!

There seemed to only be red deliveries in my area dealerships first in May.  I haven't seen a black or white in person yet.

Ah, yes, thanks for the reminder.

696, I love it, 900 miles, engine freeing up.

I had my first nightime 'freeway' blast the other night.

That headlight may be controversial in the styling dept, but it sure lights up the way  waytogo

The owner's manual is now up on ducati.com.  Like the new dash or not, it gives you gobs of info, incuding a bit of erngine diagnostics.  Me, I'm a big round analogue guy, but there is a worthwhile trade off, tons of info in a small space.
