My last track day, sub optimal foot to peg placement lead to a couple toe touches. Wasn't OMG I'm so low I scraped peg... no just had my foot too far forward for the amount of lean carried, and even on my Sumo, with all it's clearance I touched boot enough to wobble the bike. The rest of my body position was 'good' enough' and that nothing really eventful happened.

But seeing this today
Ducati 848 Crash in Front of Cop
Sure made me feel good about my OCD level of working on my foot position this weekend.

So watch those toes - lest you end up shiny side down

Not sure whether that was a toe drag issue...

At about 1:15 the front just folds.
Couldn't see clearly, but it doesn't appear that he got on the brake.

But I can testify that finding a botts dot (lane marker) with your toe does smart a bit.

That's a weird crash. I think hitting his toe just freaked him out, causing him to move his foot, maybe chop the throttle, and accidentally move the bars? Weird. He didn't hit the brake or anything.

I've touched my toes quite a few times racing, and I tuck my foot pretty tight. It isn't all that big of a deal as long as you don't let it bother you...especially if you have folding pegs.

It is weird.  I didn't see what he did with the throttle, but it looks like he touches his toe, freaks out and shifts his entire body to the outside of the bike.  That weight shift causes the front to fold.  In slow motion, it looks like he kinda jumps to the outside of the bike and overtaxes the tire.

^ That's my take on it, or similar. But basically the toe touch causes enough upset in him that the bike goes down

that's why they have sliders on boots. it shouldn't upset your flow.
it looks like he jerked the bars, maybe the cop distracted him. if you think about his line of sight, when he jerked the bars that about when he would have seen the cop car.
not blaming the cop, you just get that pucker factor when you see one.

Which are remarkably sticky at times... need some of those Garne ones... I think they have hard slider sole sections

When are you seeing his toe drag?

I thought it was at 1:17, but after watching it a bunch more, it may not be a toe drag.  Something causes his body to move up on the bike.  Maybe it's a chopped throttle, but it looks like his hand at the same time that his body moves toward the outside of the bike.

Edit:  I've watched it even more now.  His front begins to fold first, not as a result of moving his body across the bike.  I can't figure out what caused it.  Huh?

To me, it seems like he sees the cop and rolls the throttle forward which causes the bike to twitch and fall.  I know that's my natural reaction when i see a cop, just would suck to happen hung out in a corner like that.

I looked at it in slowmo nd have no clue what caused it. It didn't look like he dragged a toe.

It might just be that he was as committed as he could handle, spotted the cop, twitched and that put him over the threshold...
