The Universe is a big place .... maybe the biggest

« on: November 23, 2012, 02:23:46 AM »

In my excitement (and impatience) to tidy up my new bike I should have read the numerous posts on exhausts throughout this site before asking for help (sorry guys !)

So what have I learnt about selecting a new exhaust for my 620 .............

     - Numerous options available at various levels of quality & price from vartious countries:
Arrow  / Barracuda / Dan Moto / Ferracci / GPE Exhaust / Leo Vince / Marvings / MIVV  / QD  / Remus / Roads Italia / Sil-Moto / Spark  / Terminoni / Zard

    - Termignoni appear to be the rolls royce in both quality & price

    - I like the look of the Carbon Zards with the fancy end cap

    - Arrow appear to be good value and well recognised for quality

    - Leo Vince sound like best 'bargain' value with decent bang for bucks and satisfactory quality

In regard to High or Low Mounts:
Sounds like Highmounts will give you more lean clearance. Stock cans on DSS monsters are known to touch down pretty early.

As for looks, I tend to agree with the view that low mount pipes look better (especially on the Monsters with the dual sided swing arm) and that they give the bikes the old school look that's timeless.

All up both look fantastic, but I think I'll go low-mount to hide the swing arms

In regard to finish, sounds like the metal or stainless are harder to keep claen, but the carbon fiber versions can discolour over time. Still prefer the Carbon Options

Most posts appear to support the view that a deep bass comes from large size and probably carbon.

Hope this helps other Newbies get started and stilll open to suggestion on what I should get (and who provides the best deal) ........ Low Mount Carbon

ORIGINAL POST
Hi Guys - bit of a newby here, plenty of reading but first post.

Hoping for some tips on the cheapest way to put some new pipes on my 620. (and any suggestions on brand for best bang for buck )

Any feedback would be excellent

If it's any help - I'm Sydney based and ok on the tools (so thinking change-over myself if not too challenging)

Cheers !

Good that you found the exhaust  (if you had asked in Accessories & Mods, you would've had more answers)

Dragging exhaust in turns... if that is an issue, you can get these adapters which will angle them more upwards. Make sure the inlet and outlet dimensions fit your parts.

I know they're not carbon but they're cheapish and will fit your bike - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ducati-Monster-1000-Staintune-Oval-Sports-Mufflers-/110985457272?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19d73fae78

Update - after deciding to stick with a Low Mount solution (and pass up Dukes excellent offer on the High Mounts) just scored a set of 2nd Hand Remus Carbon Slip-On's on Gumtree for $350 + $35 shipping from Darwin to Sydney.

Look to be in good condition, so hopefully all set !
