Has anyone put on an exhaust wrap kit on their monster? (e.g. http://www.designengineering.com/category/catalog/design-engineering-inc/exhaust-wraps-accessories/motorcycle-exhaust-pipe-wrap-kit). Is it worth the while...

I wrapped my exhaust, can't say the bike runs any differently, and I still can't decide whether I like it well enough or if I'll end up taking it off and ceramic coating, but it's cheap - I picked up 50' and used less than half of that... you may as well give it a go

Get DEI titanium wrap (not really titanium, it's extruded lava rock). Much cleaner and easier ti install than fiberglass but a bit more expensive. And remember to start the wrap at the tail and and only overlap 1/2", no more. I have never used the spray, as I like the look of the raw wrap. But they will absorb water (which evaporates quite fast) however, the titanium version does not absorb water quite as easily as the fiberglass.

Memper have you tried it on ur Ducati. Is it worth it? I like how it looks on shifts1100 monster, but does it do what they say it does?

what size width and length should I get of the titanium and should I buy there DEI's Stainless Steel Locking Ties or just get some hose clamps or safety wire ?

I wrapped my exhaust with the excess i had from my guzzi to see if i liked it.  Now i love it and am waiting to order more to do the rear header all the way up to the mufflers.  heres a pic.

I used it on another bike. My monster will be next. I suggest 2" width. Not sure of the length, maybe 25'. Locking it down is your choice. Steel zips look clean, if you like a more industrial look McMaster Carr has many hose clamp choices, and safety wire is always cool but you'd have to run a few separate loops of it to secure 2" of wrap width.

I wrapped my Sparks that I had on my S4R.  Looked good, but when I took it off due to the wrap cooking the CF cans from too much heat, it destroyed the pipes.  Guy I sold them too coated them and they looked good.

So, if you have CF cans, don't wrap your pipes unless you plan to rebuild your cans yearly.

Very Good point! waytogo I actually was thinking that but didnt think I would really do that but I do not want to risk it on my Cf termi.

I wrapped, used safety wire every 2 inches or so because I wanted that look.  The wrap lasted less than a year on the horizontal header due to debris hitting the wrap and wearing through.  The constant heat cycling makes it very brittle to the touch, so it just sloughs off as well.  I don't know if the silicone spray would have helped.

That being said the wrap on the rear header has held up well and I like the look on just the rear cylinder.  Definitely use the stainless ties....very clean and professional.

TJR178, are you saying you wrapped your CF cans and they got damaged by the retained heat or did your CF cans get damaged by a hotter than normal exhaust gas temperature because your pipes were wrapped?

Either way, sorry to hear, man.
