Two dogs, are those Cockatoos yours, or wild?

A friend had one as a pet, smart as a whip, but like a 4-year old with a pair of side-cutters when angry....
Speeddog they are wild birds
They are actually a pain in the ass bang head  if you feed them they come around if you don't they still come around and tear up all the timber.
I know one Lady who had $5000 worth of new timber decking destroyed by them in an afternoon  bang head

I have trained my dog to chase them away now. Grin
We get lots of Rainbow Lorakets much nicer bird very friendly they will eat from your hand and fly into the kitchen and sit on the table while your having breakfast

My favorite is the Kookaburra (Kingfisher family) coolest bird in Australia

Yeah, sounds like Cockatoos, my friend's bird was really hard on on the furniture and cabinets when it was angry.
Hard on people too, I spent a lot of time there, and I was the only one who never got bit.  laughingdp

Those lorakeets are really cool, as are the Kookaburras.

After Philly, I went to the motherland for a bit

Moved back to the US and now I reside in beautiful Lancaster PA

Some fabulous pictures in this thread  waytogo

At the start of this I posted a couple of pictures of Melbourne.  I've lived in a few cities around the world and Melbourne is my Best Yet.  But the very best thing about it is that I dont live within.....

160kms east of there, in the hills of South Gippsland is my backyard....

and at a different time of year...

and during the bush fires of a couple of years ago (the day before we evacuated)...

...those bushfire photos have not been photoshopped... were taken in the middle of the day, the sky leaden with smoke  Sad.

We suffered no losses.

Hey I was born in South Gippsland, my folks lived there when they first came out from England. I spent a lot of weekends in the Hills around Toora and Foster chasing Bunnies and fishing for flatties in Corner Inlet.

Our front "yard" in the summer:

Lots less activity now.

Waiting to see how much it freezes in the winter.

This thread is turning into my happy place.   waytogo

Gorgeous photos!  I can post a pic of the oil refinery a few miles away from the casa or the side of the neighbors' house just a few feet from this one but I'll spare you all and will stick w/the mountainous shots that are a short drive.
