Seriously?  Rescue's are non-profit.  The adoption fee is intended to cover the costs of the vet, including spay and neuter.  Don't think it costs that much...take an animal to the vet and see what you get charged.  They also have to pay for the location of the rescue (i.e. rent, utilities, etc).  Same goes for a shelter...they are notoriously underfunded, and inundated with animals.

Regarding having to fill out a form...give me a break!  The primary goal of a rescue is to adopt the animal out to GOOD homes.  Hopefully they never have to rescue the animal again that way.  The form is a minor inconvienance for you, but a great help to the people trying to find good homes.  Verifying that the animal is going to a place with an enclosed yard is just prudent.  It would be irresponsible of them to adopt out a dog to someone who was going to keep them on a chain all day.  [roll]

I absolutely agree.  The rescue or shelter does not want to see the animal come back through again in a few months.

How do you take a pet, which is like a family member and post it on craigslist (or anywhere) like it's a lamp or coffee table you no longer desire?  ???

So far I have only given them away to friends but I am running out of people to adopt them.

Gator

Take them to the vet and get them vaccinated charge what ever you were charged by the vet... job done.

I will vaccinate them for you for â,¬30, but youll pay more than that to ship them to me...

Can also post note at local vets office about free kittens to good home.

Because it's a pet you no longer desire and didn't want in the first place? Trying to find it a good home beats the alternative way to get rid of kittens, which involves a sack and some rocks...

And "like a family member" is laughable. I'd post my family up on Craigslist too if I thought someone would take them.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

I hate Craigslist!

My business partner keeps sending me e-mails of these fat, ugly black prostitutes that sell their disgusting junk from that site.  [bang]

You're right! They should be treated like family!

So go beat them to death with a baseball bat and bury them in a shallow gave in the backyard. What's good enough for grandma, is good enough for the cats!
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

Maybe he'll correct me, but I'm pretty sure Pakhan was talking about people posting their animals in general, not specifically about SilentBob's situation.  For instance, the people that want to give away their 8 year old Lab because they suddenly decided to move into a condo.  SB's situation is quite a bit different.  At least that's how I read it.    ???

Bingo.

I understand getting rid of a litter of kittens or puppies, I was talking more generally about owning any pet for a long term and discarding. People who get rid of pets they have had for a long time are weak and pathetic IMHO.
