Press Release:

Three-time World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss inaugural Troy Bayliss Classic, International dirt flat track event will be held at Taree Motorcycle Club on Saturday January 19, 2013.

The invitational event, which has been a passionate dream held by Bayliss for many years, will feature a star-studded line-up of past and present motorcycle racing legends.

Already confirmed for the historical event is three-time World Speedway Champion Jason Crump, World Supersport Champion Chris Vermeulen, World Superbike and Moto GP race winner Garry McCoy, Dan Reardon, Stephen Gall, Troy Herfoss, Chris Hollis, Damian Cudlin, Broc Parkes, Paul Caslick, Wayne Maxwell plus Troy Bayliss with more big names to be announced in the coming weeks.

The event is being held in conjunction with the Taree Motorcycle Club’s twilight meeting, which is already an iconic event on the national dirt track calendar

“I hadn’t raced at the Taree Motorcycle Club for over 25 years,” said Bayliss, a former junior at the Old Bar track. “I was invited to race at the twilight meeting earlier this year and I had a really good time.

"The event was fantastic and the track was so much fun. It was great to be back at my old track seeing so many familiar faces

"I can't wait to return and bring some of Australia's best motorcycle racers with me," Bayliss added.

The Taree Motorcycle Club twilight meeting will include club races for juniors through to seniors plus ATV and sidecar action.

The Troy Bayliss Classic feature events will see 24 special guest riders participate in the Legends & All Stars races presented by Insure My Ride, Superpole Shootout presented Bell Helmet and the Troy Bayliss Cup presented by Pixado.com.

The diverse depth of rider talent is set to attract spectators who follow all forms of motorcycle racing.

"I have an amazing list of riders who I look forward to announcing over the coming weeks,” Bayliss continued.

“They come from all different styles of motorcycle racing and have all excelled in their chosen disciplines be it motocross, enduro, road racing, super motard, speedway, flat track or supercross.

"It’s going to be awesome to see the likes of Jason Crump & Chris Vermeulen up against someone equally as skilled in their own discipline, all on a level playing field”

The family-friendly event is designed for spectators to meet and greet their idols, enjoy the day and night racing program along with off track family entertainment.

So how was it ?  Regale us with "Things you've seen, and things you've done,
                                                   Stories, songs, toys;
All sorts of things of interest,
And fun for girls and boys!"    Cheesy   (apologies to The Funny Company)

Started back at work around that time and couldn't make it myself unfortunately.

What can I say it was horrible........
Well riding the first day was anyway, with a max temp of the day being 47.5C  Tongue

It was the hardest and hottest day's ride we've ever had and we only did 220klms.

Saturday was a totally different story roughly 22C for the day a small amount of rain but just annoying really.
We did about the same 220klms with more than half of it being on dirt!

Arriving at the track around 1:30 just as it was being dried out, we saw Bayliss and company do a bunch of warm-ups and a few heat races before the rain started to lightly fall again so we departed about 5:30-6pm before we stood in soaking rain.

I can't show you that many photos cause for the first time all I had was my phone to snap photos of the trip.

Ah yes I remember now how hot it was that Fri/Sat, not much fun riding in those sort of temperatures.
