damaged cromo tank ideas

Already being the very happy owner of a 2001 cromo, I love the cromo tank. I rebuilt a 2000 900ie monster for my gf a few years ago and I've been looking for a cromo tank for her or even a damaged one that we could do something creative with.

I bought this 2001 cromo tank off ebay for $22 a couple weeks ago.
It has a matching dent on the other side and a few scuffs, however, I don't think I can get the dents and scuffs out without damaging the crome.


So, I'd be interested in hearing some creative ideas from anyone who's interested in throwing some out.

 I think I remember Norm using a damaged cromo tank on his 'Hurricane'. If I rember correctly, he had a centre wide stripe of crome with the sides painted black and a red pinstripe in between the paint and crome.

I was thinking along the lines of something like that, but open to any interesting ideas.

Your idea sounds good. Or
-Mallet the dents into more interesting shapes
-Fix the dents and get it rechromed
-Fix the dents and rechrome it yourself (aren't there kits one can buy?)

youtube it or PDR , there is a youtube of a guy that dents an old tank and then takes the dent out to show you the process
as polished tanks were common on some old bikes

you just need to find the right guy to to the job

Aluminium is easier to work, but surely your tank can be fixed.

it might be a case of finding someone and posting it to them

try your local car smash repairers and ask who they use for PDR

you need to find the guy that sees the tank and says yeh no problems i can do that easy rather than the guy that looks at it scratching his head and umm yeh maybe i can get that out

there is a local guy who is a whiz at old british bikes and gave me some advice a couple years back in regards to straightening the frame on the old 2000 900 rebuild.

He mentioned he sends his tanks out to a another guy who is a whiz at fixing old tanks. I'm going to stop in and see him after the holidays
