Hola!  Kinda new to the forums, but i have had some electrical issues lately and was hoping to get some help.  I have a 1999 750 Monster Dark and i bought it used from a dealer three years ago.  I met my wife after i made the purchase as she was learning to ride.  we are happily married with a baby boy and the bike means a lot to me.  unfortunately, its been off the road more than on due to some "mysterious" electrical issues.  I bought a multi-tester and a Haynes manual last month because the dealer can only seem to be able to charge me everytime i go to them and continuously throw Regulator\rectifiers in the bike(excuse the run-on sentence).  The headlights were replaced with European ones before i bought it and im interested in all of your thoughts.  i would love to start doing the work myself if i knew where to begin and where to buy parts.  Much appreciated!
and thank you in advance!

This will get you through the diagnostics:

http://www.electrosport.com/technical-resources/library/diagnosis/fault-finding-guide.php

Do carefully check the connection where the stator wires connect to the harness, follow three yellow wires coming out of the left side of the engine.  They go into a cheesy connector.  Pull apart, inspect, clean, pack with dielectric grease, reassemble.  Also check the engine ground.

Ditto on more info.

What do you mean by Euro headlights?

What are the symptoms, what problems occur, no charge or what?

I ran a linked ground on mine, and the electrical system seems to be stronger.

It would also help with any grounding issues.

thanks for the link and the grounding advice.  I forgot to mention that its not charging and the eurpean lights are twin lamps instead of the stock single.  would love to go back to the stock lamp but not sure where to find one for a decent price.  also read a little and have heard about replacing some of the stock electrical parts with aftermarket ones that will perform better.  for example, i read that the coils can be replaced to help performance.
thanks,

Oh, did you check the separate 40 amp fuse by the left side of the battery and fuse #2 in the fuse box?

For the headlight, put an add in "Parts Wanted" in the classifieds on this board.  Someone may even want to trade.

I checked both fuses and they appear to be fine. I also did a continuity check and I dont have any open circuits.  I'll be checking the Reg/Rectifier tomorrow.  Good call on the headlights!  I'll take a picture and post.  Any good links for ordering parts?
