Again though, as far as I know the blue slip is the same inspection as a pink slip and they don't do db sound tests.

I was told recently (by an authorised inspector) that the only difference between a "pink slip" and a "blue slip" inspection these days is that a when doing a "blue slip" they're supposed to check the frame and engine numbers match the registration details.

Dunno how accurate that is, I've never needed o get a blue slip done on a bike.

well that is strange, i have blue slipped three bikes in the last 4 years and each time they have started the bike and gave it a little rev to check if the exhaust is obviously excessivly loud.... when i blue slipped the monster i was running obviously loud pipes and he marked down that i failed the first and passed the second inspection. he said if i fail you for real youll just go home and put the original pipes on and come back so why dont we just save ourselves the effort..

true been like that forever

different inspectors do different things

when i had my 916 blue slipped he checked the numbers, checked the speedo reading

he then asked me does everything work ??

i said yes of course while he was walking into his office

i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.
