After Market Mirrors
«
on:
January 20, 2013, 07:19:09 PM »
I have a 2012, 1100 EVO, Monster.
I'm having issues adjusting the OEM mirrors so I can see in the lanes next to me and what is coming up from behind me.
I know, I know, just ride faster and no worries LOL...
Do the bar end mounted mirrors work well, or are they just installed to be "legal" or to "look cool"?
Any comments on the pro's and con's from you guys would be helpful.
Thanks

I use CRG Lanesplitters and can see behind me much better than with OEM mirrors.

another vote here for the bar end mirrors. i have the CRG's myself, but there look to be other equally good options out there these days.

i also have bar end mirror on my evo, reverse retros. they do give me a better view but what i dont like is how much i have to look down and away from the road in front of me, they are much lower and to the out side so you do have to look away for a moment. i will most likely be going back to post mirrors soon. hope that helps.

Thanks guys.
It's nice to hear the CRG's look good and function well.
I've been looking at the CRG lanesplitters for my Monster.
I like the size of the mirrors and the adjustment arms look functional.
I agree that it will take some getting used to looking down at the mirror, but I really want to see what's around me before I look over my shoulder before a lane change.
Today, I was riding in the number one lane at about 75mph when I just happened to see the edge of the bumper of a kid in a Honda Civic who had crawled up my exhaust.
He was sssooo close I couldn't see him in my mirrors and never noticed him coming up on me.
Thanks again!!!

I honestly feel like I can see more of what's behind me with one bar end mirror than the two stock mirrors the bike came with. Plus they look better than just about everything but the rizoma naked

The glass on CRG mirrors, at least the round ones, is convex and gives a very wide field of vision.
You do need to look down at them vs mirrors on stalks, but overall they work quite well.
CRG ones are very nice quality and have replacement parts available. The are not inexpensive, but I think you get what you pay for in this case. I bought some knock offs that were about half price. They were not up to snuff and got sent back.

Well, I bought a pair of Rizoma "Linea" stalk mirrors a few months ago, the style looks very cool on my bike and the quality is top notch. But, they are very hard for me to see traffic behind me, mainly because the small size of course, and the flat glass doesn't help. I guess they will be for sale soon.
I will try a convex glass, bar end mirror next, lots of rave reviews on this forum over them, and if these don't work out, I will happily reinstall the stock mirrors, I actually think they look OK.
