Fuel Selection (Australia)

I've done a search on this and can't seem to find a similiar query so hopefully not wasting people's time with this one ..........
With a choice here in NSW/Aust of generally 2 to 3 grades of Petrol, I've been 'assuming' that using the more expensive super/red petrol would be best.
Been told that the standard low grade petrol may actually be better for the bike (can't see how ?)
I have a 2005 620 Monster .........
Any thoughts ?

there was a thread on this
http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=15715.0
The consensus being, there was no consensus.
If your bike runs fine on the cheaper fuel use it. My (ex) s2R ran fine on 91.
95 blackened the plugs and the exhaust.

Fuel has been discused heaps on here.
What dose your owners book say ?
I think it will say 91 octane (std unleaded)
Most 2 valve engines prefer and run best on 91octane.and really wasting your money using premium.
91 is hard to find these days so use 95.
4 Valvers recommend is 95.
Don't go anywere near ethanol blend 91

After speaking to the bloke who services and repairs my outboard for my boat and working around drag racing for years, I will not touch ethanol blend fuels. It is just too corrosive and especially if you don't ride all that often, having it just sitting in your bike is probably not good.
I have been putting this question to the test of late, and as far as performance goes, I see no difference at all, but personally in my 08 S4RS 998 there is a definite difference in fuel consumption. I find that I get more than enough extra kilometres out of a tank to make up the difference in the price of the fuel, so I am trying to run Ultimate in mine or 98 octane as much as possible, just because it seems to go that little bit further before the light comes on.

Thanks guys - read the older thread (that I hadn't found) and more than enough info here to answer my question ........ sort of ?
I'm thinking I'll stick with the middle of the range option for my bike.
(love DMF for these types f queries !)
